Gorgeous early summer loop trip
Glorious views of the Sunset Amphitheater with perfect conditions.
Lovely evening 2.1 mile hike through Mima Mounds. Great to learn about flowers and grasses from knowledgeable leader and participants.
For 3/4 of the trip you leave the crowds of Oyster Dome behind you. Goes through most of the best of Blanchard Mtn.
Great climb. Road closed adding a 20 minute walk each way.
Road still closed at Iron Peak th adding a mile out and back. Patchy snow around 5,700 and complete coverage after Ingalls Pass.
Route is pretty much snow free all the way to Burgundy Col.
Successful climb of both peaks. Conditions were good and described below.
Day started overcast, but weather cleared. Comet Falls going full blast! Minimal consolidated snow on trail.
A successful trip to one peaks of Kangaroo ridge.
Great snow conditions, no sign of schrund or crevasses yet. Camped at col, bench was a bit buggy.
A successful climb of the North Ridge of Mount Baker
Solid snow pack still present above 5000 ft. Snow conditions were very good allowing for straight forward travel. Trail in the woods is still well marked with mostly pink tape.
Left Port Hadlock on schedule at 11am, paddling north to Kala Point then across to Fort Flagler boat launch for first break. Next, down Kilisut Harbor on the rising tide to Mystery Bay for second break. Made the run down Scow Bay to meet the 7' tide level at the culverts, glided through, portaged to Oak Bay, then rode the ebb through the Port Townsend Canal back to Port Hadlock.

A 3L pot and white gas stove were the MVPs of the trip!
Late June one-day trip. The route is in excellent condition, though the road is still closed.
Saturday’s bluebird skies, warm temperatures and deeper than normal snow made for a perfect day with absolutely spectacular vistas.
