Failed summit attempt due to melted snowpack on 5/18/19
Fun,fun scrambling on super sticky dunite rock. Mostly solid with lots and lots of handholds. Steep snow descent on the north side. Beautiful views, esp the close up view of Baker and S Twin Sister.
We kayaked from the town of Manchester (Pomeroy Park) to the Western point of Blake Island, staying at the Marine Trails Camp Sites. The sites are out in the open with gorgeous views, which also makes them susceptible to the wind. The sites are level and pit toilets are nearby. The year round WA State Park Ranger, paid us a visit during the evening and recommends calling 911, if any issues were to arise during our stay.
A beautiful park on the Salish Sea with easy to moderate trails.
Nice hike, trail in good condition. Bike traffic of all ages on road.
Strong NNW winds down the long fetch of the San Juan Channel led us to change our destination from Jones Island to Turn Island. In this case, the greater NOAA zone forecast definitely ruled over the local pinpoint forecast.
Successful spring snow scramble with all 9 party members summiting and enjoying perfect weather. Hiked the old road and the unmaintained trail up to the snow line (around 4000') and then kicked steps in snow (sometimes steep) to the summit.
Very nice early season hike. Snow was almost completely gone and wild flowers were out in abundance.
Long day for a very short climb. Approach is very sandy and full of rock fall hazards. We found route finding to be a little challenging in places.
Great set up, but we were missing one very important thing. The wind.
Thank you weather gods - great crew - routes is in prime shape. Love the Tooth!
Wonderful early season hike and backpack through rolling forest trail along the river. Great riverfront camp sites.
Another pleasant sunset hike high above the shoreline.
Lovely evening for sunset walk on the bluff and the beach with 15 hikers.
Excellent trip with great views all day, although the descent in soft snow got to be a bit tedious.
Successful scramble to Silver Lining, the gorgeous panoramic highpoint on the ridge in the center of the bowl on the north side of Silver Peak.
Full alpine experience with spring conditions keeping the approach via Cave Ridge interesting.
Great trip, 2 little peaks, warm weather, long day
