Hoping to dodge rain (and succeeding) I took my dog for a solo 4.2 mile "nubian" ramble (long ears showing loops on my track) all around and through Shoreview and Boeing Creek for just under 2 hours. We had 14 bird species and the only ones out were dog walkers.
Nine GoWalk students and instructors delighted with opening and upgrade to Marsh and Foster Island boardwalk on misty Friday morning urban walk.
Day hike through the Enchantments core, from the Stuart Lake trailhead to the Snow Lake trailhead.
A fun trip around McNeil Island from Sunnyside Beach Park in Steilacoom.
A fine long winter outing on this scenic inlet at the tail end of the chum salmon run.
Cold weather and gray skies, but excellent company!
Beautiful foggy morning gave way to blue skies for a lovely, peaceful December outing.
There is not enough snow for this to be an enjoyable scramble. Needs two more feet to cover boulders up the ridge. Chose to descend to the saddle between Granite and West Granite, then follow a drainage out to a track thru the woods.
Seattle Olmstead Circuit Section 12 loop walk in southern Magnolia, including Perkins Lane, the "floating" stairs and Glenmont Stairs, the pocket beach at 4 Mile Rock, the Magnolia Water Tower, and Ella Bailey Park.
A fun time galavanting off the beaten path!
The salmon were today's focus but there were many other things to observe and discuss on this trail including nurse logs, invasive species, logging practices, and many fungi, mosses, and lichens.
You choice of approach routes - a fairly boring walk along dirt roads or a long nasty brush bash, but the final section of the climb is quite delightful and the views from the summit are spectacular.
220 CFS was a good level. This was a very nice upper body and aerobic workout under a tree canopy and through the fields on an otherwise dreary day.
This location is a change to Little Si/Boulder Garden Loop. The reason for relocating this mentored hike is because the trail conditions are easier to navigate in the rain than on Little Si/ Boulder Garden Loop trail.
Rainy day hike with treacherous trail conditions.
Point Defiance, Sea Lions, Great Herons, a Bsld Eagle, The Narrows Bridge and Salmon Beach. And good company to boot.
Annual Tiger Mountain Random Walk where we randomly ( or arbitrarily) chose which direction to go at each intersection. After a couple of hours, we pulled out our maps and used them to figure out our position, then navigated back to the trailhead.
Great day in the mountains, some challenges with the low snow cover
This was a fun low water packrafting trip on a lower section of the Washougal River, Clark County, Washington. Water level was about 5.4 feet on the Hathaway gauge, which is pretty much the minimum level without too much contact with rocks in shallow areas.
9 of us made a giant "choose-your-own adventure" loop: Poo Poo up to Hidden Forest/One-View to Poo Top, W. Tiger 1 and 3, down the TMT and back for 10.5 miles and just under 3000 gain to beat the rain.
