Another beautiful December paddle with an unexpected surprise.
Wonderful North Cascade views and a great 5000' workout in single digit (°F) temperatures.
Really enjoyed paddling with all nice people. Cold day, but no wind---- nice we saw many many sealions , visited Rohnda/Chris house with Statue of Liberty. Great Trip, Lisa !
Great trip. People were all having fun and the leader, Chris coached those who requested help.
Epic snowshoe ramble to the roof of the Olympics
Great trail for beginners and seasoned skiers wanting to train for the season. Flat with pretty lake views, bathrooms along the way, in and out trail equaling about 8 miles total, so turn around whenever you like!
Plan this trip with a low tide, so that you can access the small beach. Stay off the tidelands, however, as they are leased.
This trip involved two simultaneous capsizes and was abandoned.
Amabilis Mountain was a back up destination due to the high avalanche conditions. The waist deep powder made it a bigger adventure than we bargained for!
Nordic Pass on snowshoes was plan B (replacing Pratt Mountain scramble) due to weather and avalanche conditions.
Change of destination due to high avy conditions, originally Mildred Point.
With stormy weather at Snoqualmie Pass and with the road to Mailbox closed by a jack-knifed semi, Mt Si and Dixie became our last-minute substitute destination.
Lots of low elevation snow enabled us to use snowshoes starting from the cars. Followed the summer trail the whole way, which is generally easy to follow, but there are a few spots in open areas where we had to look at Gaia to see which way it went. Windy and cold on the summit ridge, but protected in the "tree fort" at the summit. Great day.
WE cleaned out and organized the lookout locker in the barn.Returned tools from the season's work and did some inventory of the tools. Ran the trails to determine what trails to use for are basic trail maintenance workshops.Total 12 volunteer admin. hours.
Gorgeous views of Mt Constance from the summit of Point 5345 and a great workout of ~8 miles and ~5000' gain.
Fine trip, knowledgeable leader and assistant leader, fine time to be outdoors.
Arrowhead is a winter wonderland with lots of heavy, unconsolidated snow. We broke most of the trail, go NOW!
