Great time well spent on an unexpectedly nice day in beautiful Hammersley Inlet.
Rattlesnake Moountain Grand Traverse, one way east to west (Rattlesnake Lake to Snoqualmie Point Park)
Mixed weather with intermittent views of Emmons Glacier, Mount Ruth, and Sunrise. We even had a brief but intense period of sunshine just below the summit providing a short (but enjoyable) temperature excursion from sub-freezing to the 70s!
Great two day climb. Left trail head around 11am and set up camp at 7550' around 5pm. Woke up at 2am, walking at 3am, summit at 11:30am. Back to cars about 8:30pm. High winds most of the time. Snow from parking lot with some dry patches. Melting fast. Steeper sections in good shape with great plunge stepping on the way down.
We enjoyed an urban hike through the parks and streets of Queen Anne Hill on a sunny Saturday morning.
Successful winter climb of the North Face of The Castle
Turned around in the parking lot due to rain.
Combined with Cave Ridge, this was a delightful third choice when weather forced us off our original destination and a closed road eliminated our backup plan.
Only about 1/2 mile of snow on the road, should melt quickly to trailhead. Lots of snow after great winter. Snow bridges are pretty thin at stream crossing. Most crevasses covered by snow, nice wide path all the way to the summit.
excellent conditions. snow started just a little past the creek crossing. very little postholing. multiple excellent glissades.
climbing route essentially snow free. winter/spring approach in perfect shape
Last lovely weather day before the start of more rain the following day. A great group which included this year's new scramble students and a few seasoned ones.
Midweek after hours trip. Trail in good condition with some flower and almost no snow.
A very relaxing and enjoyable weekend in very good company.
Successful trip. Nice views but a very warm day.
