The wildflowers are at their peak right now and trail conditions are perfect.
Mountaineers backpack trip to Esmeralda Basin, Gallagher Head Lake, and De Roux Creek, with a side trip to Lake Ann. Overnight camp on the spur trail to Lake Ann.
Route condition was in great shape. Rain prevented us from continuing to the summit
Fun one day climb of Sahale, up Quien Sabe and down the Sahale Arm.
Great scramble and ski to summit with great views. Good ski down.
Perfect conditions for an Intro to Rock Gardening Class
The route is in. Approach/walkoff has snow, consider boots and ice axes.
7 hours of cheerfulness in the Buckhorn Wilderness
Judi-Mary-Bean High Traverse - Sat. July 15, 2017: One slower party member was escorted down from the Mary-Bean saddle by the assistant leader, but did achieve Rock Scramble credit for summiting Judi Peak via the SW scree field/rock ribs route. The remainder of the party completed the traverse from Judi to Mary and from Mary to Bean (and exit via upper Bean Basin and the Bean Creek Trail) in exemplary fashion. There is little to no snow remaining on or around any of the Bean Basin peaks. The crossings of Beverly and Bean Creeks are inconsequential.
bedal creek approach. route in excellent condition. no snow after exiting the glacier onto the corkscrew
Great sail. Raced the Duck Dodge, including two spinnaker sets. Then rafted up to socialize and plunder our fellow racer's boats.
Party of seven, two cars. Parking lot pretty full. Trail in good shape. Volunteers working to keep it that way. Weather good, we had a super time, everyone moving well and in great shape. I'd recommend the use of trekking poles for a couple of steep sections
A nice summer scramble of two peaks.
Outstanding hike on clear day with tons of wildflowers and $1M views.
Do not underestimate Luahna Peak when completing this duo!
Stunning views, some steep-sided traverses in need of trail maintenance. Best flower displays ever.
After cruxy first pitch you'll find a variety of fun terrain (wavy crack, nervous nelly slab, bear hug cracks) on solid rock with good pro.
Incredible short hike for kids---cormorants very active with babies in nests, bats came out right at sunset, stayed until 10 and walked out in the dark with flashlights and were at parking lot by 10:25. Could have come back earlier but nobody wanted to! Cool with breeze even though the day was warm. Great family activity!
