We planted about 100 trees and mulched them to restore some urban forest.
Perfect sunny day. Hiked trail to 2850' elevation, hung right-north up slope ascending direct up using friendly terrain. At approximately 4200', modest angle climber's left through friendly trees and slope until gain ridge. Followed ridge to tree slope below Tusk O' (West) Granite and ascent direct moving though trees. Descend west ridge to Olallie Lake trail return toTH 4pm.
It was a very pleasant hike. It was at a pace that allowed conversation. There were several young people in the group and I believe this was their first hike. At least one I talked with said she would be back for more hiking.
A fun ice climb on a beautiful day.
The hike was a success! Great weather (although it was chilly) and a positive, friendly group, including 5 hikers who were joining a Mountaineers hike for the first time.
We explored lower Eld Inlet on 2/10/18. We had sunshine, high 49 degrees, and light variable wind.
A gorgeous (and strenuous ;) day in the North Cascades with too many peaks to count in all directions.
Excellent conditions, beautiful day. Opted not to cross the first log bridge at 3,500.' Instead kept east of the creek and summer trail, crossing the creek at the bridge at roughly 3,840.' Turned around at 4,000.' Kept an easy pace for a round trip travel time of 4 hours.
Snowshoe trip to Kendall First Knob on a glorious blue bird day!
Made a 12 mile loop that was fun and interesting and not crowded.
Glorious weather + great group members = A+ day
Soft snow with lots of open areas due to run off made this snowshoe more challenging. We also skirted Beaver Lake on the NW side to avoid any glide avalanches from opposing cliffy area.
