A solitary and remote workout near the western side of Mt Rainier, with a tinge of tension from an approaching winter storm. A great demon cleansing day at ~3500’ gain over ~19 miles (round trip).
Completed another kayak conditioning paddle around Mercer Island
Great day with wonderful hikers. Terrain was a bit muddy in places, but with nice views of Heart Lake, Lake Erie, Lake Campbell, Lopez Island, Allen Island, Whidbey Island and Camano Island.
Excellent winter paddle between gusty weather systems. Saw many seals and bald eagles enroute. The Eglon Community Park has new tables and inviting benches.
A little fresh snow, mostly cooperative weather, and a terrific team made for a fun winter scramble!
Successful intro ski tour, Sunny weather, firm crust with a little dust
Pierce County hike across Edmond Marsh on an old railroad causeway and then down the railroad grade through Sequalitchew Canyon to reach a pebbled beach on the shores of Puget Sound.
Bottom of the road down by Cabin Creek did not have an XC track but after the second hair pin the route was groomed. Snow got much better after the 3-4th switchback and was great up by the Y. Parking lot was maybe 20% full at 8:30, more like 80% full by 11 but plenty of space for creative parking still. A little foggy at the top but no issues with visibility from a safety perspective, just no view!
Well maintained trail. Steady climb and elevation of 1,500 feet. Nice view at Debbie's peak.
Launched from Titlow at 0930 to circumnavigate Fox Island and returned at 1600. A wonderful paddle on a cold winter day!
Successful intro ski tour, Sunny weather, firm crust with a little dust
A wonderful 10 nautical mile paddle around Elliot bay - covering Seattle waterfront, underground waterway (seattle seawall), duwamish river and Alki beach. Saw many Sea Lions and Seals.
Beautiful Day in the Snow
Our Olympia Explorers group successfully completed Mailbox - Up the Old Trail and Down the Old Trail
Blue skies overhead as we traveled through foggy mists, with sun breaks. 4" of new snow over hard pack, the beaten trail was very beaten, though we enjoyed areas of exploring off trail.

Enjoyed a beautiful December day kayaking around Chuckanut Bay and Wildcat cove to see amazing Sandstone rock formations. I had heard of this place for a while, but never been to it - it is worth visiting via kayak.
Gorgeous views of the SW aspect of Mount Rainier, as well as a bit of spice at the Pyramid Creek crossing. A beautiful day on this ~13 mile/~3700’ gain Winter Scramble.
