Basic Field Trip for Equivalency candidates up the Old Commonwealth Basin trail, then across the creek to the central ridge. Ventured off trail to enjoy the trees and for skill experiences.

A very enjoyable route in late winter/early spring snowpack.
Beautiful sunny day once avy danger finally calmed down. Road walking followed by steep snow.
Bad road conditions and heavy snow, but beautiful 360 views
Winter climb of The Tooth - South Face
We achieved our goals of the three summits in good weather conditions. The views were good including partial views of the North Cascades and Olympics. We enjoyed the hike extension to Whistle Lake.
Sliding into the North East corner MRNP thru the back door to North Slide Mountain
A kayak sailing trip in Hood canal with three crossings, launching from the Misery Point boat ramp.
Excellent conditioner - and practice for off trail approaches- but don’t expect to be home by lunchtime using this approach.
Lovely forested meander up to Debbie's view. Rainier was clouded over, so only territorial view at the viewpoint. Did see a prominent large claw mark on a tree, and we debated whether the tree visitor was bear or cougar.
Beautiful evening for a short hike for dinner with a view of Mt. Rainier
zoom meeting to get field trip information to students. And answer questions about gear and meeting plan. It went well.
Road closed till 7am. Extreme avalanche conditions. 9am backpacked toward Grace Lakes to a very safe area. Nice weather, dusting of snow Saturday and Saturday night. A treat to camp in this good snow and good weather. Very knowledgeable group.
We traveled clockwise up the steep switchbacks first. There was between 6-8 feet of snow and snow was a nice powder until the descent on the Wonderland trail where it started to become slushy at temps warmed the snow. Overall it was a really good trip.
We launched from Arcadia and paddled in a counter-clockwise direction around Squaxin Island.
