Climbing
A pleasant 4 to 5 pitch ice climb with easy class three scramble to the summit. This is an excellent ice climb in British Columbia's scenic southern mountains. The approach is a short hike on a heavily used, but rough trail to the upper Joffre Lake.
Scrambling
Scramble one or two peaks in the Glacier Peak Wilderness's Entiat Mountains. Mount Maude is the 15th highest and Seven Fingered Jack is the 12th highest peak in Washington and has a great vista of Mount Fernow and Bonanza Peaks, 6th and 8th highest, respectively. The scramble routes are long but fun, and are about half on-trail and half off-trail.

A strenuous 8-mile round trip snowshoe near Stevens Pass with 2,700 feet of elevation gain. It is very scenic and has great views.

A moderate scramble to the top of a 9,000-foot high volcano near Grant's Pass, Oregon. It's one of the Cascade Volcanoes pin peaks.

Hike in the Capitol Forest near Olympia.It's 5.6 miles round trip with 1,150 feet of elevation gain. There are some limited views of the forest and beyond hear the summit. Motorized vehicles are permitted on this trail from May to November, so this hike is best done in winter or early spring.

Mount Muller Divide Trail is a strenuous, 9 mile loop day hike with 3,200 ft in elevation gain. The trail heads up steep switchbacks through meadows and forests to panoramic views.

A long 17+ mile approach, a glacier with crevasses and bergschrunds, and a Class 4 rock climb with a Class 5 step on loose rocky ramps to the summit of its West Peak. Mount Olympus, in the center of Olympic National Park, is one of the "Five Majors" and a big accomplishment. The approach goes through a true old growth rain forest. Consider adding the Middle and East Peaks for a traverse of Mount Olympus. Mount Tom, Mount Mathias and Mount Mercury are also good additions to an expedition to Mount Olympus.

Climb one of the rocky summits of The Pershing Massif in the Olympic's Mount Skokomish Wilderness. The south peak at 6,154 is the highest of the three. All are located between the Hamma Hamma River and Jefferson Creek, 1.3 miles NNW of Mount Washington.

Mount Persis is a moderate snow and/or rock scramble with 2,800 feet of elevation gain in a little over two miles. The final ridge line and summit offer wide views of the west flank of Mount Index and the valley of the Skykomish River.

Labeled as McLain Peaks on some maps, Mount Phelps is a prominent peak due east of Seattle located off of North Fork Snoqualmie River Road. A steep but short scramble with 3,000 feet of gain in 3.5 miles.

A moderate scramble of 10 miles round trip with 2,800 feet of gain off of the Mountain Loop Highway. Scramble Iodine Gulch to Bathtub Lakes. Turn around here or continue on then to the lookout on the summit of Mount Pilchuck.

Called the "DC Route," this is the most popular route to the summit of Washington state's highest mountain. Climb 9,000 feet on snowfields and glaciers. Travel a short distance on rock on the cleaver and possibly cross ladders. Enjoy a "top of the world" view from the summit. Many climbers on summer weekends often cause bottlenecks, and the altitude is an issue for many climbers. Times: 6-8 hr trailhead to camp, 5-8 hr camp to summit.
