Trip cancelled as we were only 2 paddlers, but we went as a private trip and here is the report. In short the weather was nice, but the wind didn't materialize as forecasted. Pretty much paddled the whole way with light wind to help us along a bit.
After a dark and stormy night, ten of us battled downed trees, blocked roads, and dark traffic lights to reach our trailhead. After that, all was wonderful.
Very nice flat walk along the river. heading south and crossing over the river and returning north.
This was our Plan B, supposed to be the safer option, which turned into a perilous journey at times. We were all very relieved to reach the take out.
Mid-November day hike down the Slab Camp Trail and out along the Gray Wolf River to Three Forks Camp.
Beulah’s Book, Johnny Vegas, Black Magic and Lotta Balls
Very successful session with ideal wind level and a great venue with an abundance of sandy beaches to rest, regroup and make adjustments/repairs.
A welcoming day for our Welcome to Hiking folks along the Skookum Flats Trail. Eight of us enjoyed this lovely old-growth forest and some ventured to view the falls up close.
This hike was to incorporate the watching of the Chum Salmon. It did not disappoint!
The primary goal of this trip was to view the Chum salmon run, and they didn't disappoint. Recent rainfall has allowed a good number of salmon to enter the creek and we were able to witness classic spawning behavior.
Accessible trail attracts all kinds of hikers, even those woefully unprepared.
We encountered thigh deep snow from the Earl Peak turn off on a beautiful blue bird day. Successfully made it to the basin and a little higher to a lunch spot with a view of the peaks; did not make it to Bean Peak.
wonderful walk though Seattle Arboretum on a warm and partly sunny fall day. Lots of colors still hanging in the trees. Nice tour as well though the Montlake neighborhood.
A not so wintery, winter scramble, but a perfect day to bag 5 peaks with no views! And 4 more Rainier 100's in the books!
370 CFS - low flow that is great for eddying practice and building skills/experience
Geocaching urban walk through Cheasty Greenway, residential areas and Jefferson Park.
On election day, I enjoyed hiking to Thompson Lake and Granite Lake in the snow, sleet, rain, and hail. Thompson Lake has 3-4 inches while Granite Lake is snow-free (but muddy) with 37 stream runoffs between the lakes and car. Bring poles!
Walk from Rainier Beach Playfield to Chief Sealth Trail and back.
The most fun we could have had on an unpleasant day and scramble. Alternative title: "How I learned to stop worrying and love the rain".
