Made the summits of Tyee Peak and Crescent Mountain in one long day with a great group
Strenuous but very beautiful one day traverse of Kaleetan Peak on July 16, 2016 that visited Snow Lake, Gem Lake, Chair Lake, Kaleetan Peak, and Melakwa Lake. Dropped car off at the Denny Creek trailhead before starting out from the Snow Lake trailhead (doing the traverse in this direction has less elevation gain). Total trip was ~15 miles, ~5000' elevation gain, in just under 12 hours.
One of the top 100 hikes in Washington, on the east side of Olympic National Park. This is great as a one-night backpack or long day hike. A backpack is preferred to leave time to explore Royal Basin and the upper basin. This hike offers views of wild rivers, old-growth huge trees, waterfalls, alpine lakes and tarns, all surrounded by both snow-covered as well as dry, craggy mountains. You'll see deer, marmots and mosquitoes.
Bit of a Soggy Foggy day that perhaps did not live up to its weather forecast, but still an enjoyable outing.
Seattle branch double-summit hike to Skyscraper Mountain and Mount Fremont on July 16 with a group of 7 hikers.
Steep, interesting, rugged hike near the Bonneville Dam.
Flowers just getting started, some nice lupine, bistort, beargrass in the park meadows and paintbrush just starting to show. Mtn was in the clouds today, nice breeze kept mosquitoes away but they are hungry in the forest areas.
A one-day late-season climb via the Old Chute.
Successful One day climb Quien Sabe glacier/ Sahale Peak. Returning via Cascade pass.
this was a nice tour of the mouth of the Budd Inlet and the surrounding points of land. It isa great orientation trip for those new to the Boston Harbor part of the sound.
Turned around due to conditions. Great conditioning hike!
Long single-day scramble, exhausting & rewarding.
route in excellent shape. lots of places to find drinking water on approach all the way to ingalls lake, still some snow on the approach, so used ice axes some. road blocked and closed a mile before the trailhead.
Great Climb- we left the cars at 6:30AM and returned at 4.
With unfriendly weather in the forecast, the goal was changed from Central Cowlitz Chimney to Skookum, on the divide between the Cle Elum and Teanaway river valleys
Students took 2 falls each on cams and nuts. No injuries.
Early season attempt via Jefferson Park. Turned around due to rime ice on the knife edge ridge and summit block.
A sunny day hike east of the Cascade Crest, with no major trail or road issues.
