fun paddle, not crowded at Larrabee boat launch...day started out cool but warmed up quickly when the sun penetrated the clouds and haze. Water conditiona were as advertised. Pleasant day with fun people.
A weekday scramble up Red Mountain via the Commonwealth Trail.
The Eastside Trail runs along Deer Creek, Chinook Creek, and the Ohanapecosh River in eastern Mountain Rainier National Park. We did it as a through hike from the Deer Creek Trailhead to the Stevens Canyon Entrance.
Great company, fine weather, calm winds, smooth seas and good planning made for a wonderful 18 nautical mile sea kayak camping trip from Friday Harbor to Jones Island to Turn Island and back.

Labor Day weekend fun on the Wonderland Trail! Cool morning turned into hot afternoon in a hurry.
Challenging rock scramble that would probably be a better spring snow scramble. A day filled with talus and scree but still a fun time had by all.

Four lakes in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, swimming, ripe berries, pikas, mushrooms and some amazing moss & lichen.
Launching from Luhr Beach, we circumnavigated Anderson Island in a clockwise direction, stopping at Eagle Island State Park, and the Ocean City Ferry.
Trips don't get much better than this with wonderful weather, great paddling conditions, tons of wildlife and the best company!
Immense and absolutely unforgiving, Greenland tested 9 Mountaineers with intense water crossings, boot-swallowing moraines, and mile after mile of challenging rocky terrain. But it rewarded with stunning views, thousands and thousands of icebergs, spouting whales, and jousts with arctic foxes.

This stunning 12-day walking adventure took our valiant group of 12 people from the sights of Zurich to the Lichtenstein border in the ancient town of Sargans by train, and then on foot to Grindelwald, the Eiger trail and the wonders of the Jungfraujoch. We experienced a wide range of lovely Swiss countryside, villages and cities, staying in hostels, small mountain guest houses, small family-run hotels and charming family dairies/B&Bs as we went. Trails were well marked and generally good terrain, though we did get lost a couple of times when our Gaia map didn't match recent Via Alpina re-routes. Lots of road sections (gravel, occasionally pavement) but not busy. Our outfitter Alpenventures Unguided did a great job with lodging bookings and we also took advantage of some of the frequent cable cars, trains and buses to avoid less appealing sections, catch up when we got behind, and make large elevation gain days more reasonable. The SBB app (Swiss transport) was invaluable. Rain can happen anytime in the Swiss Alps, even in high summer, and we walked through periods of rain on multiple days, but temperatures were moderate.

The Burgess Shale (located inside Yoho National Park) is perhaps the most famous fossil bed in the world. Access is tightly restricted, but can be arranged through Parks Canada. Yoho National Park also hosts incredibly gorgeous hiking. We spent two days hiking and two days fossil sighting.
