Sea Kayaking
An island in south Puget Sound owned by the Squaxin Indian Tribe. Sea kayak landing is not permitted on the island. Get ready for some wildlife viewing on this uninhabited island near Olympia.
Urban Adventure
An urban park near downtown Olympia used for field trips including Wilderness Skills and Basic Alpine Climbing. The City for Olympia renamed this park in 2022—it was formerly named Priest Point Park.
Day Hiking
A 5.4 mile unmaintained hike with 2,900 feet of elevation gain along Squire Creek. The trail follows 2 miles of road turned to boot-built tread, ascends through a section of old-growth timber and breaks out into a traverse of a ridge across from the splendor of the glaciated cirque below Three Fingers.
Day Hiking
Enjoy an easy hike around Squires Lake or a conditioning hike to the summit of Alger Alp with views of Squires Lake, Lake Samish, and Lake Whatcom. These hikes are just north of Mount Vernon and Sedro-Woolley and south of Bellingham near the Chuckanut Mountains.
The church's parish hall is good for meetings and lectures and may be rented.

Cross-country Skiing
Stampede Pass is a moderately difficult, 10 mile roundtrip cross country ski tour with 1,300 feet of elevation gain. The trail switchbacks up through powerline clearings to the pass, from which you can explore Lizard Lake and surrounding ridges.
Cross-country Skiing & Snowshoeing
In winter and snow levels permitting, SR-410 becomes a winter playground once it has closed. Snowshoe or ski south on the highway as many miles as you wish with minimal elevation gain.
Climbing
A classic climb on Chief's Grand Wall in Squamish, British Columbia, Canada. It's a 5.12b free climb or C2 5.10 aid climb.
Scrambling & Trail Running
A 16+ mile loop with nearly 7,000 feet of elevation gain and loss that ascends and descends the north and south ridges of Steamboat Prow with an incidental summit of Mount Ruth. A challenging trip on Mountain Rainier's northern flank that's been done as a trail run.
Day Hiking & Naturalist
Steamboat Rock State Park preserves spectacular features of the Columbia Plateau Ice Age Floods. The 800-foot-tall butte of Steamboat Rock, sheer cliffs, and scoured coulees are remnants of a series of flood events that completely dwarf the imagination.
Bikepacking
A very remote and strenuous but spectacular bikepack route that climbs 7,000 feet to the top and descends on the backside of Steens Mountain in southeast Oregon.

A short, easy scramble to a viewpoint in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River valley.
Sea Kayaking
Sea kayak in South Puget Sound from Sunnyside Beach or Salters Point Park in Steilacoom to Sequalitchew Creek Beach in DuPont or paddle around the private Ketron Island.

Enjoy a scenic river canyon along whitewater and a meandering stream, old-growth forests, extensive pictographs, wildflowers or fall colors in season, occasional wildlife in the rain shadow zone of one of British Columbia's larger provincial parks.

A 150-acre, 3,612-foot-tall natural monument. The park is famous for its stark, dramatic beauty and the panoramic view it provides of surrounding farmlands, the Blue Mountains, and other neighboring ranges and peaks. A paved road leads to a parking area on top.
Day Hiking
A day hike on a short section of the Wonderland Trail in Stevens Canyon on the southeast side of Mount Rainier. Enjoy the many waterfalls along the trail. It's an easy hike at 7 mi and 700 ft of elevation gain.

Cross-country Skiing & Snowshoeing
Located in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, the Stevens Pass Nordic Center offers trails for classic cross-country, skating and snowshoeing. The terrain is suited to all ability levels, and the trail system takes you along the base of Jim Hill Mountain and into the heart of Mill Valley to the base of the Stevens Pass Ski Area's "back side."
