A strenuous day hike with 4,100 feet of elevation gain. The original path heads straight up the ridge through the forest to the rocky summit for a 6-miles round trip. The new trail switchbacks to the summit for 11.2 miles round trip.

A moderate scramble in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Skykomish. Malachite has two peaks, 0.5 mile apart and both of which are good scramble destinations.

A long ridge run with two peaks in the western Teanaway. With their relatively low elevation and a very long ridge route, they make for a nice scramble in May through October.

Malcolm Mountain Loop is a strenuous, 10.4 mile day hike loop with 2,900 ft in elevation gain. The trail goes clockwise through forests and meadows up to Medra Pass where there are views of Mt. Stuart.

A strenuous, 10 mile round trip snowshoe with 1,900 feet of elevation gain. The trail follows old roads up the ridge.

More strenuous 10 mile snowshoe route in the North Cascades. The crest is reached after a 5 mile steady climb southbound up the ridge. Shorter trips can be made by taking one of the spur roads during the first couple of miles.

This is a moderate difficulty glacier climb ascending 5735 feet from Skookum Creek trailhead to the summit of Mamquam Mountain in Garibaldi Provincial Park. You will pass by two alpine lakes and gain the Mamquam Icefield enroot to the summit. Permits are required when camping within the park along this route.

A 128-acre state park with hiking trails, beach exploration, camping, and great views. It also has an interesting military history.

A moderate 27 mile loop trail on the south side of the Three Sisters Wilderness with 2440 feet of elevation gain. This hike passes through old-growth forests and several scenic lakes intersecting with the PCT and visiting larger Deer and Little Cultus Lakes. The trail is open to horses and dogs, but bikes are prohibited in the wilderness area.

A 1.4 loop hike with 200 feet of elevation gain with a short side trail that leads to Maple Falls in a county park near Bellingham. Another side trail leads to a view point with views of Mount Baker.

A moderate, 7.2 mile loop day hike with 2,000 feet of elevation gain. The trail offers old growth forest, sub-alpine flower meadows, ridge top walking and majestic views of the North Cascade range.

A parcel of land in Maple Valley that is home to the Maple Valley Farmers' Market and has a few trails including the 0.7-mile Gnome Trail and the one-mile Legacy Loop. Dogs are allowed on the trails.

Day hikes and backpacks of 6-18 miles with 1,200 to 3,100 feet of elevation gain that follow a beautiful, seldom traveled route along a high ridge past several alpine lakes and down along picturesque waterfalls near Snoqualmie Pass, much of it in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.

This moderate hike through a mature second growth forest connecting to an overlook with a view to the south featuring Mount Rainier in the distance. It's 5.5 miles round trip and 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

The Needle Traverse on Markhor Peak, located in British Columbia, is an easy basic alpine climb

One of the great Olympic hikes in the Buckhorn Wilderness. I takes you thru old growth forest along the pristine Big Quilcene River, then up out of the trees to to alpine meadows and views of snow-capped peaks to the south and sheer rock faces on the north. It's 10-13 miles round trip with 3,500 to 4,400 feet of elevation gain.

So many great choices with this Puget Sound sea kayaking adventure! Circumnavigate Marrowstone and/or Indian Islands, or paddle along their shores. Discover geologic features along the shores and play in the tidal rapids off Marrowstone Point. Or launch from Marrowstone Point for trips to Whidbey Island's west shore.

A moderate, 7.5 mile round trip snowshoe with 1,300 feet of elevation gain. The narrow, winding trail follows the creek up to the western foot of Bald Mountain. A great trip if you're looking for winter solitude.
