Two of us enjoyed a private trip to photograph 43 bird species despite thick fog that burned off just as we were leaving. We enjoyed time with a ruby-crowned kinglet, more wood ducks than I've ever seen in one spot, green-winged teals, canvasbacks, and 18 Wilson's snipes.
Late winter escape to sunny El Potrero Chico!
A group from Everett, Olympia, and Tacoma enjoyed a challenging day on the trails in perfect snow conditions; we were able to ski most of White Pass Nordic Center, and would recommend this area to anyone who hasn't been!
Great forest/ urban hike. Well marked and cared for. Lots of things in nature to see
Pleasant walk through area of magnificent homes overlooking Lake Washington.
The forecast front was significantly delayed, so conditions for the paddle were SKII rather than the expected SKIV-V. It turned out to be a very pleasant paddle with very little wind and light overcast.
Lots of stream crossings, some quite challenging. Stream on the northeast portion of the trail was impassable. Beautiful moss and fern scenery.
Two days of great snow, sunny skies, and good times!
We walked a 26 stairway loop route on Queen Anne . The oldest stairway in Seattle is on this route. We toured historic neighborhoods and schools .
Short & sweet with enough elevation gain to get the heart rate up
We had fun snowshoeing through snowy woods to a frozen lake.
Pleasant 7 ish mile hike through a park in Maple Valley. There is a pretty view on top of the mountain where we were lucky to see 4 juvenile eagles
The trip was cancelled due to the weather and avalanche foreast. A warm "atmospheric river" is forecast for Sat Feb 22 with heavy rains and wind. The avalanche forecaset is considerable at all elevations.
Cloudy (but not rainy) hike along the Tacoma waterfront
We had amazing sun breaks at West Tiger 1 for an early lunch. The changes in just four days are astounding: no snow until 500' from the summits, and crampons are only needed on the upper reaches of the mountains.
This route on City of DuPont trails takes you through wooded sections, across a marsh and down a beautiful forested canyon to Nisqually Reach.
We walked the Seattle Olmsted 50 : Section 2 loop route from the Woodland Park Zoo West entrance. This loop included Woodland Park , Green Lake Park , and the historic adjacent neighborhoods .
Great snowshoe with occasional views of the ski resort and Keechelus Lake from Kendall Knob, on a snowy day.
This is a trip report about a trail run that I did on our rest day leaving right from the the condominium. It is a great route to for a recovery day run.
