First time visiting the conservatory. I practiced taking close-ups of the flowers & plants without the use of a tripod (strictly hand-held). I also tried a couple of in-camera multiple exposures.
9 Mountaineers enjoyed a pleasant snow scramble of Arrowhead Mountain on 5/6/17.
With all the hot weather earlier in the week, Denny Creek was flowing too high and fast to cross. Instead, we followed the west bank of Denny Creek toward Denny Lake and discovered a gorgeous bowl. Worth coming back to next winter and exploring more (as long as avalanche conditions are low).
Road open to lower trail head, snow that is on trail is well traveled and consolidated.
Lovely spring day in the Columbia River Gorge.
Water was running too high at first crossing. We switched to Little Ranger Creek.

Successful snow scramble (Mt. Ellinor only), hit near perfect weather window, great view to Hood Canal, nice glissade, bumpy in part.
Short hike to Shi Shi Beach to pick up marine debris.
Successful scramble with all students doing well. Limited views of Rainier and less than ideal conditions for self-arrest practice but all in all a very good day.

Only two years old, this is an moderately easy and peaceful route into a gorgeous river canyon.
A wintry and challenging loop that visited the Tahoma Creek suspension bridge, Emerald Ridge, and the Columnar Basalt near the S. Puyallup campsite.
Seeking more stable conditions we changed the goal from Anvil Rock to Mildred Point.
