Benign weather, amazing hoarfrost and enough snow for 'shoeing.
Our group of four hikers had a great time. The trail was in good condition and we saw some interesting things. Everyone was a happy hiker.
This was a good early-season trip for B3 students and a good warm-up for other backpackers.
This was a good early-season route. It rained much more than expected and we all got drenched, but the route was passable, we reached our destination, and everyone returned safely – so the trip was a success.
Prior to any significant snowfall of winter season. 10.5 hours RT from trailhead to Upper Lena Lake. Counted at least ten fallen trees across trail after Lower Lena Lake that required going over or under. Last 1.4 miles has multiple steep sections and two creek crossings.
Trail is in perfect condition with new signage. No snow.
Usually offered as a snowshoe via the Jungle Creek Rd route, but this trip was via Tarzan Butte so posting it as a scramble was more appropriate. Easy trip with stunning views from Teanaway summit.
Clockwise circumnavigation of Anderson Island from Luhr boat launch
Good trip in light drizzle up to 5000' and light snow to Marmot Pass. Stopped at Marmot Pass due to about 1.5 feet of new snow. Snow did not look much heavier higher up, so summit appeared possible.
Fun search for Christmas trees in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest.
