Enjoyable skin/ski of Steamboat Prow in good conditions.
A classic sunbreak trip to central Washington. Very windy but otherwise excellent.
Rainy Memorial Day scramble up Humpback Mountain. A positive and fun group made the best of it, but snow conditions and wet rock forced our turn around at 4,700ft.
A great early season snow scramble offering many opportunities for learning. The White River Road had just opened (the day before, 5/27) with the Fryingpan Creek Trailhead having an unusual surplus of parking spots (the Memorial Day weekend and poor weather might have helped with this ;).
A large group of Mountaineers dealt with awkward snow conditions and poor visibility to reach the summit of Cowlitz Rocks. On the descent, the clouds lifted allowing for good views of the Tatoosh Range.
Personal trip to the Tooth with 2 mountaineers members via Snow Lake Trail
Surprised mostly a sunny and warm day, but the snow was too soft to make it to the top. Post-holing to knees or deeper as we went higher.
Istanbul - a magical city worth at least 3 days, and tour with a guide to plumb the depths of culture, history and food in the city! Selcuk, Ephesus, Aphrodisias - stunning repositories of history from the bronze age through Roman times. Walking the Carian Way - some gorgeous views from the ridgetops, lots of beaches and sunsets over the sea, fantastic home-prepared food, a few great historic sites; but trails are very rocky and overrun with prickly brush, and not extraordinarily rewarding for the hiking itself. You definitely need transport and preferably a guide to find the spots that are worth your while.
a delightful paddle in a weather window...a scenic moody vista start to a finish with sunshine & breeze that pushed us back to our launch. We were blessed to see birdlife (loons, eagles, gulls & guillemots) & saline (porpoise, seals & sealion).
Preparation for 2022 trail maintenance on Church Creek Trail #871. This was both an access road clearing trip to the Eastern (Skokomish) trailhead and a scouting trip on the Church Creek Trail to document trail problems for future trail maintenance days.
Successful hike to just beyond Big Hump on the Duckabush River Trail. We were hiking in a light drizzle most of the day, but had a good trip.
We had a great hike to Greider Lakes on May 28, 2022. While rain was in the forecast, we had a mostly overcast day with a few sunbreaks and sprinkles.
On May 26, 2022, 8 of us found the route snow-free, including the trail over to the view point that is .6 miles from the summit. The predicted rain held off, and we got The View.
Good option for a Spring visit to the Teanaway region when the snowpack makes other Teanaway destinations inaccessible.
This was one of best trips I have been on so far. We had a wonderful crew and crew leader, everyone worked together and we accomplished more than I thought was possible.
Warm evening for a hike in the woods. The forest is beautiful right now.
9 scramblers had a good day on Silver King with some decent views under the clouds. Snow conditions were less than ideal yet again during this strange spring of 2022.
