An overnight, off-pavement bikepacking tour of the Cascade Trail from Sedro Wooley to Concrete with camping at Rasar State Park Campground.
A beautiful sunny and clear day with little wind was the reward for a very cold start! Great views of the Olympics and Mt. Rainier throughout the day.
A great Winter Scramble tune-up, with clear/cold weather (to verify our emergency clothing/gear), and a lengthy/confusing network of trails (made even more so by recent logging) to hone our conditioning/navigation skills. Lead photo by Nathan GH.
The weather cooperated and the sun broke through as we reached the beach for lunch. The sunshine highlighted the fall colors. The area is rich in historical sites which added interest to the trip.

Amazing to me still how even on sunny weekends, above the Balcony, how empty this trail is. Great group. Great conditions.

A wonderful early winter paddle with great weather and a great group. Little wind, some sunshine and moderate temperatures.
A fine, windy winter day with new snow adorning the Olympics. Launched from Grapeview and after rounding Stretch Island, we crossed the inlet and paddled north to the end of the inlet.
The majority of this trip was pleasant and uneventful, with breezy but manageable conditions. This is a great trip, with a fascinating experience through the Locks. See below for incident that occurred in the Locks on the return to our launch site.

We completed this loop walk , starting in the Union Bay Natural Area , and looping around to the Arboretum. It is a scenic and historic route , including the Urban Gardens , Wetlands , and two City Parks .
