A day hike to an iconic alpine lake on a cool and sunny day in late October.
Nice, easy walk in the forest with some interesting historical artifacts and a river access point near the end. Good signage keeps you on the hiker's trail.
8 of us enjoyed a magical snowy hike from Whittaker Wilderness Trailhead to Whittaker Peak (via Gombu Cliffs), looped to Shy Bear Pass, and over Deceiver to Doughty Falls. We had a good 3-5 inches of fresh snow for over 90% of the hike. Slick in places and snow-laden trees are shedding their snow - be prepared for ice and wet.
Approach road in is clear, parking lot clear, and the trails are in good condition.
Over night trip to Mount Ellinor. Camped at 4500' rather than closer to the summit due to the avalanche danger on the winter route. Experienced several inches of new snow overnight and a full-on winter camping experience!
Eight amazing nights on the Wonderland Trail, with a one-night detour to Yellowstone Cliffs and back.
Two-night backpacking trip up to Royal Basin with a group of six.
One hot afternoon hike up to the ledge during a heat wave, but the cool breeze at the top made it all worth it!
Beautiful hike to two lakes on a bluebird day. Enjoyed the view of Mount Rainier from the trail above Olallie Lake.
The ice was in, and the temps were low! Ouray ice climbing trip was epic, and conditions allowed us to get a lot of laps in.
This route was a good choice for a January urban walk. Everyone enjoyed exploring the new pedestrian pathways at the Montlake/520 interchange and the arboretum's Witt Winter Garden added extra interest due to the witch hazel and other blooming fragrant plants. We also enjoyed seeing the sculpture shown to the right, titled Union by John Grade; it is represents western red cedar cell structures.
A clear day with great views. Fun in the sun and snow for our Year of the Snake hike.
My dog and I enjoyed a solo hike counter-clockwise along Coyote, looping around Bridle Trails pond looking for access (for waterfowl) and then continued along Trillium to Raven and back to the parking lot. Beautiful day, only one horse and a hairy woodpecker, 3 ravens, cross bills and kinglets among 18 bird species.
Snowshoe ascent of Arrowhead in eight hours car-to-car in sunny and cold weather.
A great hike to a relatively remote lake. Approach road, parking lot, and trail were all in excellent conditions.
Great group, route, weather, and tides! Saw many eagles, hawks, ducks, an otter and a seal.
