Summited Sunday, May 29th. Snow on the trail up to Long's Pass. Lot's of snow from the pass to the base of the route allowing a high traverse across open snow fields. Windy & cold on the ascent but with dry rock.
Excellent hike on a cool, Spring day. Trail is in very good condition, no snow.
Excellent trip, cloudy but some views below the clouds and otherwise pleasant weather, and perhaps best of all, 2000+ vertical feet of glissading.
Beautiful area to paddle especially the East side of the lake, pass South Shore picnic area. Note: On South Fork launch site, car must be parked in the parking lot before you reach the launch site.
Two peaks for the price of one.
First time hike of area and had a blast. Very different from North Cascades! Enjoyed it.
We were expecting >10 kt southerly winds, so we moved the trip to the Elliott Bay area where it was move protected.
On a cloudy but dry May 24, 2016, 7 scramblers successfully climbed Tamanos Mountain. Snow conditions were variable but generally good for kicking steps, plunge stepping and glissading.
We used the Pratt Lake trail head and so extra miles. Woodland flowers are blooming now and the stream crossings are very pretty.
Weather predicted rain but it held off and even cleared up. Great snow up high and all around a great trip.
Divided into 3 groups. The route was over to the locks and around the North side of Discovery Park. There was some wind. When we went around West point the wind picked up with some wave action.
Great spring weather, wildflowers and a little bit of snow up top to make it feel like a good day in the high country
Wild and woolly wind and seas. A brave crew performing well under less than ideal conditions. And what is with our destination being upwind both ways? The sea is a mystery.
Dodged the rain and had a great leisurely hike.
