After a long hard climb, we were ultimately stymied a hundred feet below the summit by cornices and cliffs. But everyone loved the climb anyway.
Despite the occasional showers moving through, it was a nice walk. It did not disappoint - a lot of variety of birds to view from meadow to tree to waterfowl to eagles/hawks/falcons. It was my first time to the refuge and well worth it.
Primary trail closed. Bird nest trail mostly OK--some blowdown and trail indistinct in places. Turned around at trail closure, about 2400 ft elevation.
Regrettably I was not able to make this work party due to a family emergency. I will be looking to help at a later date.
Wonderful outing. It must have rained everywhere but Whidbey Island on this day.
At last, the weather was our friend. Nice winter scramble
Lovely evening up and down and up and down West Madrona. First time we'd seen Bellevue bathed in alpen glow at sunset across a still Lake Washington.
Trip canceled due to insufficient participants. Good trail conditions on 3/18-19 scouting trip.
Good late winter/early spring hike for a sunshine break. If it's been a wet year, be prepared with poles & traction devices for footwear to aid on steep sections with slippery mud or snow.
Challenging and rewarding trip to a spectacular viewpoint, the only drawback being the approach road.
Excellent trip on a gorgeous day, a great time on the mountain.
Good sun but poor trail conditions. Turned 600' below summit due to steep snow.
A great day in the mountains with sun breaks, snow flurries, and brief views in the afternoon.
Snow was in excellent condition and very consolidated.
Good company, great views all directions and no rain until back at cars -- not bad for a rainy week. Four parks in 2 1/2 hours, a classic Seattle stairwalk in the heart of the Olmstead vision for Seattle parks.
