Starting early meant beating the crowds and the rain on this popular hike
Changed sail date to 9 April 2017.
Nice hike through the rain along the Burke-Gilman Trail. A large group (25), but hiking midweek and in the rain gave us the trail largely to ourselves. Stops at Yesler Swamp and Magnuson Park provided some variety and a lunch stop at the Mountainers headquarters provided a sheltered lunch break. Distance was longer than our estimate, but all made it. All 25 rode the bus back to University Village or home.
Great chance to assist a local community keeping its greenspace safe, nurtured and maintained. Welcoming organizers, and only 2 hours to receive stewardship credit.
This was a great trip that was lead by Doug Whalley. We had lunch in the Mountaineers headquarters in front of the gas fireplace!
Trees, flowers and frogs all in full, spring bloom. A lovely walk past charming homes with grand views to Lake Washington from many vantage points.
Fantastic trip up the Zipper couloir in April (non-Mountaineers party).
Good successful day in variable weather conditions.
Lots of beautiful moss covered falling branches and a pretty falls full of springtime water. Beautiful misty day for a walk in the cool woods.

Beautiful and strenuous winter scramble with views of the SW aspect of Mt Rainier.
Because of flood warnings, and saturated soils the trip was canceled and will be rescheduled for May 6th, 2017.
One day scramble conditioner in heavy snow conditions.
Hardy group persevered despite challenging conditions and weather.
Pleasant trip, light rain, trail moist with a few mud puddles easily avoided. Falls in full force. came back by Mima Falls Tie trail-campground trail to make a loop hike.
Very pretty woodland hike. Cougar Falls has a good flow of water right now.
A quiet early evening on well maintained trails with four bridge crossings, including one on the Historic Register. The ravine is magic, tucked in a busy, growing city -- a grand display of native plants and second growth trees, some at eye level on the high bridge.
