Terrific two-day first mentored lead of Ruth Mountain and Icy Peak; under the clouds on Day 1 with clear skies giving us gorgeous views all around for Day 2. This was a 2-day climb that utilized the Meany Crest camp within the Little Tahoma Alpine Zone.
Strong headwinds, big crevasses, and huge overhung seracs made for an amazing final graduation climb with the JA SIG on Mount Rainier. Strong leadership and cohesive teamwork resulted in a successful summit for the full team of 12 Mounties.
Todd Cleland and I led a small group of CHS-2 students on a hot but wonderful traverse with great views, a nice breeze, 23 bird species, foxgloves and fireweed, and afterward for extra mileage, a walk around part of the lake.

Moderate paddle launching from Owen Beach/Point Defiance in Tacoma, with a first break at Gig Harbor, then lunch at Sunset Beach before crossing to Vashon Island and back to Owen Beach. Break at Spring Beach in Vashon Island included time to practice rescues and rolls.
