Awesome scramble with ideal route conditions. Steep snow section on upper slope, 8600-8800' elevation only required crampons and ice ax.
A pleasant hike in the woods with a view (Far Country Lookout) and a little water (Far Country Falls and Coal Creek Falls).
3-day climb of Glacier Peak on a perfect weather window for a bluebird summit day! Gaia's recorded track gave us 34.8 miles and 10,427 ft of gain over the 3 days.

A successful day in Leavenworth with a strong group of students and rope leads.
Very late Sunday morning start to PPP. Clouds and winds but we made it up PPP and with visibility being low, we decided not to traverse around to WEB. Good group. Car to Car of 6.30 hours with good breaks all along. Students took turns navigating and choosing the route and also setting pace. We had 30 seconds of views as we went up. Stopped for Beer and Burger on the way out.
Wet day but overall a great scramble. Started at 8 from the trail head with 8hr car to car. Good beginner rock scramble for students. We started with the trail a little ways up, veered off into some rocks to assess how comfortable everyone was on rocks. Once we saw all were eager to do more rock scrambling. We took the straight up route, there was some scree being pushed but we stuck together as a group. 10 minutes at the summit and down climb back to the lake. One student forgot their helmet, so we made them wait at the red pond till we got back, with cell phone reception there and protection from wind, it was a safer option. Creek crossings were a little tricky as the second creek crossing after the logged one, was running above the rocks, two of the scramblers including me, got our boots wet trying to get others over the rock, on the way up. Students took turns navigating and route finding. Overall a great trip and fun group. This trip can definitely be done even in wet rock. Watch out for the creek crossings this time of the year. Was 10/20 snoqualmie peaks for me
A lonesome and spectacular lake that requires dedication to achieve.
Wonderful trip with perfect weather. Snow is gone from trail up to 5100 feet.
This route is now in condition, with no significant snow on the steep forest or steep rock portions of the route, and only some remaining snow on the trail/waytrail portions of the route. No ice ax needed.
This loop begins with the Wonderland Trail out of Longmire, then coming back on the Rampart Ridge Trail which eventually breaks out of the forest revealing a breathtaking view of Mount Rainier. On the return we’ll take the Trail of the Shadows interpretive trail that makes a .7 mile loop around a wetland, hot springs and replica of James Longmire’s cabin, for a 5.2 mile hike in total.
Quick jaunt to a scenic lake. Highlights: peace and views. Note: the mosquitoes are hungry!
Still lots of snow on the approach. Consider Ice Ax, Mountaineering Boots +/- crampons. Turned around prior to Trap Pass due to footing.
This was a very enjoyable long scramble. Although clouds limited our views somewhat, what we could see was spectacular.
