Scramble of 7-22-2018: Another excellent trip up the north basin loop scramble route to Silver, with a little snow in patches, a lot of boulder hopping, and some route-finding, forest and brush bashing, and summit basking.
A real grunt on the 1.5 mile section of STEEP switchbacks. Worth it with spectacular views from the easy High Ridge trail.
Successful 3 day climb of Mount Logan.
A number of downed trees block the lower portion of the trail but they can be crossed or bypassed fairly easily. An intermittent creek is still running in the meadows below the summit.
River crossings, glaciers, crazy-heather-bench-trail-thing, exposed bear-hug scramble move. A true alpine experience
A successful climb of both peaks in murderous heat and surrounded by swarms of bloodthirsty animals, but with wonderfully clear skies, great views, and with the entire route past Ruth all to ourselves.
Complete traverse over the major glaciers of Mt Logan with a car shuttle between the Easy Pass TH, and Colonial Creek TH. A very intense trip!
Turned around at Lake Lillian due to a late start
This was a successful trip with good weather and strong team. Launched at 9:37am and returned around 3:30pm.
This was just a perfect kayak camping weekend with cracking good paddling conditions, gorgeous scenery, fantastic weather, a lovely and quiet campsite with wonderful companions. All paddlers performed well with excellent group dynamics.
Challenging and exposed, only for experienced scramblers if you use this route. Lots of loose rock when we did it, but what amazing views. Upper Royal Basin, where we camped to do both scrambles is a most stunning area.
Fun and fast trail run in Cedar Downs Park in Maple Valley/Covington, perfect weather for a after work run.
All 9 in the team summit in perfect weather. Congratulations to many first Rainier summit.
Sunny 3-day climb of Glacier and Kololo
One day ascent of the Upper North Ridge of Mount Stuart including the Great Gendarme.
Your repellent is NO MATCH for these mosquitoes. Late season this climb is a volcanic choss-fest.
Good snow and rock leading to the North Hidden Lake Peak. By turning toward the North Peak at about 6200 ft from the main trail, there is some interesting terrain. With or without snow it is a nice route finding opportunity through blocky terrain.
