Great trip, lots to see along the way.
Trip of 9/29/18: This is one of my favorite scrambles, the trip's reputation as being rife with "loose rock" notwithstanding. There are a couple of short, unavoidable sections of loose dirt or scree, but the rest of the trip can be conducted on safe, fun, and solidly-settled boulders and bedrock for those familiar with the route.
A good day of racing, with a solid start and first leg. Second leg? Eh, not so good. I blame the wind.
All participants completed the hike and made the summit without issues. Great fall colors.
A beautiful fall traverse through alpine meadows, alpine tundra, and lush forests.
Very efficient smooth climbing trip with perfect weather and some beautiful Fall colors.
One-day intensive alpine ice instruction with guides from Northwest Mountain School, aligned to FT1 expectations from the Alpine Ice module.
Good conditions. No picketts or snowshoes. 2-4 inches of crust on fair ice. Scrape it off and use screws all the way. Snow free approach. Road rough but passable. Fog obscured decent recommend following GPS track. 11 hrs 45 minutes car to car. Record for branch. We weren't fast but we weren't lost. Cold in AM.
Early Sunday morning trip with - No hikers, no views and no sun. But a 3.5 hours round trip. Planned as a conditioning scramble. One student graudated.
After Work scramble- great sunset views. Upper Trail head cuts 4 miles of round trip.
Great one day trip, ideally planned as a scouting trip for Vesper - Sperry peak. Good group, efficient trip, less than 8 hrs round trip
