Trip cancelled at the beach due to winds higher than forecast at the planned launch time, and expected higher than desired winds throughout the day.
A blustery day with all sorts of weather. Sunshine and clear skies in the morning and gusty and raining in the afternoon. Challenging paddling with headwinds all morning and gusty tailwinds in the afternoon with great surfing opportunities.
10 of us experienced lovely snow conditions, low winds, great conversation about one hiker's recent PCT thru-hike, and a raging waterfall along with surprising SUNSHINE, 12 bird species, and a mountain beaver that nearly stumped us all.
This was a beautiful hike with really nice vistas on a sunny day. The second half of the hike was extremely windy, which made hiking difficult. Trails were well kept, and the elevation was for the most part mild to moderate.
Warm weather made for fun climbing despite extra winds!
Rainy solo hike on the Middle Fork trail, 3 miles out and back. Lots of mud and water running on the trail!
Walk from the High Point neighborhood in West Seattle down through Fauntleroy and Lincoln Parks. Loop option back up to Myrtle Reservoir Park.
On a windy, wet morning, ten of us cheerfully braved the mud for a white-out trip up to Poo Poo via High School and were surprised by the number of other brave souls out on the morning of Daylight Savings adjustment.
Lots of sea lions and swans made for a special day out on the Columbia River.
Fabulous kick-off to CHS 2026 today, big thanks to Craig and Rachel and all who participated. I grabbed an hour of birding (31 species) between Conditioning and Nutrition and the Gear Demo to explore a very crowded park.
A gorgeous day to Mildred Point near the southern aspect of Mount Rainier. Our original foray into Van Trump Park was rendered less desirable by elevated avalanche conditions. [Lead Photo by Jesse Bengtsson]
A very nice hike, lucky to dodge the predicted rain. Identified trees, ferns and a few early blooming plants while walking on a well-maintained trail to Newcastle beach and back
12 of us got lucky with conditions and weather and enjoyed 9 miles and snow along the trail to both lakes. Strong group, fun conversations, 8 bird species, and the downpour held off until we were heading home. Love days like that.
Sunny skies and awesome views during our traverse from Mount Baldy to Domerie Peak
Winter route in good shape. Future trips should know it takes the full time the gates are open to complete in time.
This is a wonderful winter scramble that should be led more. Stay on the logging road for a more gradual climb, or cut the switchbacks and head straight up. The summit delivers stunning winter views, but the open slope near the summit can be avalanche prone.
4.2mi extended loop of Chambers Bay adding in the East Slope Trail in additional to the Soundview and Grandview trails.
Field trip for Tacoma's Winter Camping course had bluebird days, cold overnight temperatures, lots of learning, and plenty of laughs.
In the 9 a.m. cohort for today's Moss Workshop I came away with a much better understanding of how to identify lowland winter mosses, lichens, and liverworts with beautiful dry conditions and (bonus!) 15 bird species as well.
