Doe Island - Cypress Head overnight paddle
Nice cool evening for a hike. The group enjoyed seeing Dirty Harry's relics and the hike in general.
Beautiful, moderate elevation gain hike of about 11 miles. Nice wildflower displays. Minor wetness on the trail.
Successful after work scramble up Humpback Mountain with mixture of students and graduates.
A 26km+ loop with 2,100m +/- to climb and descend both the north and south ridges of Steamboat Prow with an incidental summit of Mount Ruth.
Solitude and an amazing amount of water flowing through all the falls at this time of year.
Turned around attempt due to impassable Thunder Creek crossing
Two-day climb with a great team. Mix of weather conditions (whiteouts and bluebird skies) and great snow for kicking steps!
We enjoyed a nice hike under shady trees and over several wooden bridges. The only glitch was that the Duthie Hill Park parking lot was very crowded and some of the hikers had to park on the street. There were several parking spaces available when we returned from our hike, so I would only meet here again for an afternoon or early evening hike.
Route is in good condition with minimal crevasse hazard at the moment, and only short snow sections on the summit block.
Crampons and ice ax not necessary as of July 1, 2021 60m rope, singles of cams .3-3 (3 optional but nice to have), set of nuts Crux takes #2 and/or #3 cams
A gorgeous loop in a seldom visited part of MRNP. A great day in the mountains with lots of wildlife (ravens/elk), all the non-snow scrambling skills, and a good workout at ~15 miles/5300’ gain.
Successful snow-free lollipop route to scramble DeRoux.
What a wonderful day with old and new friends. The boot hike section brought lots of surprises and a good workout away from the usual weekend crowds. Beautiful forest, fantastic views and lots of flowers made this a great hike.
Excellent rest rooms at the start (Bellevue Botanical Garden) and at the midpoint (Kelsey Creek Park.) More than half of the hike was in the shade. Hiking poles are helpful.
An interesting scramble with a good group of people.
