Great beginner backpack trip along the rushing Greenwater River.
It was a beautiful and sunny day. Temperatures were in the 80s. When we arrived at the lake, there was only one or two other hikers present on the lunch rock. Everyone seemed to enjoy the hike.
A lovely close-in hike with way less people than nearby Mailbox. 2 of us did not change our boots for the stream crossings, 1 of us put on his water shoes.
The rumors of our death by brush are greatly exaggerated.
Overnight backpack on the North Fork Skokomish Trail.
Always a lovely trip! Stayed at Meadow Creek camp and Stehekin Lakeview Camp - was a great decision to get to Stehekin by night 2, as then we could have a leisurely walk to the bakery the next morning! But a few suggestions in the detail below.
We hiked up the South Coldwater trail and camped two nights at Ridge Camp. On the in between day we had spectacular day hiking up to the Boundary trail, Coldwater saddle and partially up Coldwater Peak.
Overnight trip for Backpacking students
Good conditioner with a nice view for dinner.
Successful instructional trip except for turning back a few hundred feet short of the summit. Except for some rain conditions were good for scramble travel.
This great, but long early season snow scramble had fantastic views (~5000’ gain and ~20 miles due to the locked logging road gate). Should remain a snow scramble for the next 4 weeks, then a hot-dry hike after that.
A beautiful day for the ascent, challenging weather on the descent.
Beautiful day, some vegetation, a snow covered talus field and 360' views all around
We climbed the S Arete of SEWS in 14 hours car to car on May 22 2021. Group of eight; there were 22 total on the route that day and we shared resources at times. Grouse, pika, and goat sighted. We made good time on our approach, we were slow to climb and scramble when snow was present, our descent was well organized and quick.
3 day climb of Jack Mountain / Nohokomeen Headwall
A beautiful day's strenuous outing with views all around
