A great day in the mountains with stunning waterfall views. This rare loop trip (normally ruled out by winter hazards along the Comet Falls trail) was made reasonable by the unusually low snow depths. Our ascent route was Wonderland Trail to Cougar Rock, cross country to Comet Falls trailhead, then snow covered trail to Mildred Point (descent by the usual Rampart Ridge route).
The gate to Corral Pass Rd is closed and there are many trees across the road.
12 scramblers completed Granite Mountain the day after the first snows of the season
A wet, wet day with a trace of snow at the top. A great group on a not so great day.
Good Winter hiking alternative, you share the trail with Mountain bikers.
This is a wonderful hike with views, beaches, wildlife and Deception bridge.

short winter scramble to avoid the rain on the west side
Three Olympia Junior MAC kids had a great time climbing Sunshine Wall at Vantage.
Surprisingly nice day on Si despite the rainy forecast.
We hiked three loops , including Washington Park Arboretum , Interlaken Park , Volunteer Park , and Louisa Boren Park. We had great views of Lake Washington and Union Bay .
Beautiful crisp morning with some low clouds. Great view of the mountain at the end of the road or from the trail that starts where the road levels off at 2580. Only saw one other hiker coming up as we went down.
Tiger Mountain was a surprisingly good setting to serve as a segue to Winter Scrambles. A variety of navigation challenges, lots of conditioning (5000’, 15 miles), made even more enjoyable (and possible) by its close proximity to home (less time driving).
Little traveled snow covered trail with stream crossings.
Perfect weather for a fun winter scramble of Silver Peak from the PCT
Perfect day for a paddle around Goat Island. Windless with calm seas and amazing views all around. The fishway was blocked with several large logs so after going counter clockwise around the island we circled back and returned to LaConner along the north side of the channel. High winter tides throughout the day allowed for easy put in and take out at Conner Park’s kayak beach. Connner.
Nice, chilly autumn day for a visit and to see the new tower!
