Good snow conditions and some scattered vistas from the point we have heard called Dungeon Knoll, as it is just south of Dungeon
Well worth doing as a snowshoe or winter scramble from the north for its stunning views.
Hard to imagine squeezing more ‘getting away from it all’ plus gorgeous views into 2 days than this immersive outing. The Longmire/Westside Road junction (at the locked gate) provides reliable access as well as ensuring a good workout (~5000’, ~27 miles spread over 2 days).
Definitely an easy hike with lots of opportunities for wildlife sightings.
Fun day exploring the Bear Gap area in the Crystal Mountain backcountry.
This loop urban walk included great views , 26 stairways , 830 steps up , and 994 steps down . We discussed the history of Queen Anne throughout the walk .
Cold muddy hike up Cable Line in the dark, encountering a little fresh snow/ice on the upper third with 3+ inches at the summit. It was also pitch black, bright headlamps encouraged.
A great learning trip with an enthusiastic crew!

Unexpectedly gorgeous weather on this great Winter Scramble workout (~14 miles, ~3800’ gain). The historically most troublesome stream crossing (Pyramid Creek) has a bridge in immaculate condition.
A delay in the opening of the Paradise gate due to 3" of overnight snow precip, led us to execute our Plan B to Reflection lake from Longmire and it was not disappointing.
A beautiful paddle along an almost unspoiled and dramatic shoreline with lots of wildlife. This rarely paddled trip is a gem that I highly recommend.
