A fun exploration of Case Inlet with a great group. Relatively calm conditions and some light rain. Perfect tide for viewing the Victor Petroglyph.
Flat and easy paved trail running along the backside of Lake Cresent. Great for Walking, Running, and Biking.
We started at Crystal Mountain Ski Resort parking area, ascended to ridge above Bullion Basin, and followed the ridge towards Norse Peak.
Drove over on Thursday, team climbed at G1 on Friday. We reviewed general techniques, worked on honing our movement, and started practicing placing screws and mock-leading. Saturday was gorgeous weather and we went to Unamed Wall so folks could do more mock leads. By the end of the day, Sherman did his first real lead. On Sunday, we went to Mummy 1 and after a couple of mock leads and some mini-pitch practice, everyone else tried leading. We continued up towards Mummy 2/ Cryptorchid/Matrix, and folks got some more leads in. We started the drive home that evening, stopped in Butte for the night, and continued home on Monday. Great trip overall!
We arrived at Crystal Mountain Resort and were greeted with light snowfall. By the time we reshuffled vehicles (due to new parking signage), held a briefing, and began our trip, the snowfall stopped. We utilized a variety of trails and non-motorized roads to meander up the hillside. By then, the sun briefly appeared and we used the opportunity to take photos. After enjoying lunch, the return was at a faster pace; mostly downhill back to the trailhead. After a debrief, everyone safely returned to their vehicles to drive home.
Sunshine, mountain views and a blustery day had all of these snowshoers smiling and shivering as they made their way to the frozen over Reflection Lakes area.
Good snow conditions and some scattered vistas from the point we have heard called Dungeon Knoll, as it is just south of Dungeon
Well worth doing as a snowshoe or winter scramble from the north for its stunning views.
Hard to imagine squeezing more ‘getting away from it all’ plus gorgeous views into 2 days than this immersive outing. The Longmire/Westside Road junction (at the locked gate) provides reliable access as well as ensuring a good workout (~5000’, ~27 miles spread over 2 days).
Definitely an easy hike with lots of opportunities for wildlife sightings.
Fun day exploring the Bear Gap area in the Crystal Mountain backcountry.
This loop urban walk included great views , 26 stairways , 830 steps up , and 994 steps down . We discussed the history of Queen Anne throughout the walk .
Cold muddy hike up Cable Line in the dark, encountering a little fresh snow/ice on the upper third with 3+ inches at the summit. It was also pitch black, bright headlamps encouraged.
A great learning trip with an enthusiastic crew!
Fun day on the snow, tagging four different lakes.
