It's a winter wonderland! Got about 1 inch of snow today and now covers most of the trail. Snow depth is 3 inches at the lake, tapering to just a trace at the Smithbrook trailhead. Trail is easily passable, even without microspikes.
Lovely hike through old-growth trees, mosses, and mushrooms!
A small weather window allowed us to complete Hibox and enjoy the fall colors.

Wonderful fall paddle in near perfect conditions. Sunshine, little wind, fall colors and very little boat traffic.
Despite the forecast for intermittent rain showers, we had gorgeous weather with sunny skies and gorgeous views.
Saturday afternoon at Flaming Geyser State Park. Saw the salmon, saw the flaming Geyser, saw the bubbling Geyser.

Last minute, Plan B pivot to Chutla Peak after Longmire gate opening was canceled for weather. Met lots of snow after the saddle and turned around.
We had a productive day removing "volunteer" trees growing on the roadbed on RD-7245. We cleared the section between the creek that flows from Windy Gully up to the junction to the Sidestep trail. We then walked up to the Glen Bandy memorial tree to take in the view an have some lunch. Partial views of the Enchantments -- mostly clouds obscuring -- but some smoke from the Labor Mtn Fire.
The scramble itself was insignificant, but the mushrooming along the trail was spectacular.
Perfect, clear, cool autumn day for this fantastic trip with fellow adventurers!
