Fun 1/2 day run with a real class III rapid and dozens of playful class II boulder gardens and wave trains. 980 CFS was on the light side but ample for packrafts. Nothing beats boating on a rainy day.
A somewhat misty day, but still plenty of views (including the scene of the Osceola Mudflow) on this strenuous 14 mile/4000’ gain scramble. Besides ample viewpoints, the day included a pristine alpine lake (Lake 5580), and a chance to evaluate snow conditions in the surrounding area. [Lead photo by Jesse Bengtsson]
Fun 2-day adventure with our mountain bikes.
Successful climb in clear conditions
Beautiful low country and snow free but upper 6000ft is super cold and still 4-6 feet snow cover.
Got lucky with a narrow weather window to successfully complete the climb. Approach scrambling was just as bad as other trip reports said!
Canceled due to lack of participants.
Scramble students persevered through challenging conditions.
Will be a very nice trail once the snow has melted more.
Early season climb with soft snow and whiteout conditions
Nine Mountaineers from the Olympia Branch spent a grand weekend camping among old growth trees in the Campbell Tree Grove Campground and clearing the upper reaches of the beautiful West Fork Humptulips River trail in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula.
Successful and totally fun women’s scramble of Foss Peak.
A beautiful tour of two river valleys, ascending the Little River to Hurricane Hill (with an unexpected snow storm on the summit), then gradually improving conditions as we descended to the Elwha River. A great workout of 5500’ elevation gain over 19 miles.
Successful climb of Silver Star Mountain threading the needle on weather with winter conditions on the summit block
Hiking and educational activities in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park showcasing amazing views, wildflowers, waterfalls, geology and history of the area.
A post trip huddle resulted in no complaints, plenty of smiles and we were all gleefully satisfied with our wonderful weather. A comment was made about the contrasts on Fidalgo Island. I have always felt that way on land but it strikes me how much more evident it is on the water!
A warm and beautiful evening for dinner with a view.
A warm day with challenging soft snow conditions, but a scenic ridge ascent!
