Canceled/turned around at the start of the hike in
A good Basic climb that will exercise the full alpine quiver of skills. One high quality rock pitch and one not so much.
Paddled from Boston Harbor, around Cooper Point and into the cove by Edgewater Beach, then headed toward Gull Harbor. Due to time constraints, we turned around just prior to reaching Gull Harbor, then went back to Boston Harbor.
A delightful hike in the woods plus a bear sighting.
This trip was for students who were proficient in top roping on rock and interested in learning to lead single-pitch sport routes and set up TR anchors.
A standard Basic Rock climb of The Tooth's South Face. Despite being a last-minute idea (the plan began only 3 days before the climb,) we rallied a group of four, and our day on The Tooth went perfectly. (And as you'd expect for August: there's zero snow to deal with.)
We did Silver, Tinkham, and East Tinkham peaks from the Mirror Lake trailhead
Hike thru lush forest on trails, boardwalks and log bridges to Glines Overlook viewpoint to stand 200 ft above the breached former dam. Continue on the upland, forest trail or Smokey Bottom (lake bed trail) to Boulder Creek to observe the restoring ecosystem.
We did the first seven pitches out of a total of 14 pitches due to good climbing on the first seven ones. Solid rock. Route finding was tricky for us on rappels. Approach is steep though with little rock fall risks.
A rewarding day summitting both Sweet and Florence Peaks.
Fun and scenic loop above Mowich Lake.
Successful summits of both peak! Long and hot day with good group!
Lovely 7 mile walk along Ruston Waterfront - great company, interesting history, spectacular artwork and wildlife, and perfect weather!
Voie De Chaise is still covered in loose rock but it is mostly avoidable on the ascent. The biggest worry for rock fall is when pulling the rope on the rappel. Overall the climbing is great!
What a great group to work with! Elizabeth, you are an awesome leader and I am grateful for your help at the PC. The place is looking great! It's nice to have returning volunteers as well, and I think you will help to keep them coming back. Cheers!
A moderate bushwhack to a peak that had a flower filled meadow on the north side of Mt. Rainier
