Day Hiking
A hike of 8.8 miles and 1,171 feet of elevation gain on logging roads on the east side of the Olympic Mountains 17 miles northwest of Olympia. On clear days enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains, the Salish Sea, and Mount Rainier. This is a good conditioner, and logging roads make for wide path with no mud.

Scrambling
There's nothing easy about Easy Pass. This is a long, hard scramble on Ragged Ridge in the North Cascades. You'll experience solitude and great views while scrambling

Rainbow Falls State Park provides about 3 miles of casual nature trails through a hillside forest and along the Chehalis River. The park contains one of the last stands of true old growth forest in the Chehalis Basin and Willapa Hills.

Backcountry Skiing
Rainy Pass to Heather/Maple Pass is a strenuous, 7 mile round trip backcountry ski trip with 2,000 ft in elevation gain. The trail begins in switchbacks, passes above the north of Lake Ann, up Heather Pass and onto Maple Pass.
Backpacking
A moderate, 19 mile round backpack descending 2,000 feet on the way in and gaining it back on the way out on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and North Fork Bridge Creek Trail. At the head of the North Fork Bridge Creek a huge cirque sits beneath the ice-hung precipices of Goode Mountain, Storm King Peak, and Mount Logan.
Backpacking
Experience the Pacific Crest Trail and the North Cascades crest at their finest. Follow the Pacific Crest Trail north from Rainy Pass on this 40 mile round trip, 3,550 foot route over Cutthroat, Granite and Methow Passes to two lovely alpine lakes in the shadow of the Golden Horn.
Scrambling
A moderate to strenuous scramble of 8-12 miles round trip from the Rachel Lake Trailhead near Snoqualmie Pass. Follow a dramatic ridge with waterfalls, lakes, and tarns. Enjoy views of Hibox Mountain, Alta Mountain and other peaks in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Snoqualmie Pass.
Scrambling
A moderate 6-mile rock scramble in the Snoqualmie Pass area with 2,400 feet of elevation gain with an approach that uses a "fisherman's trail." The steep approach passes Lake Laura and Lake Lillian and then follows a series of tarns and heather benches before ending at the base of the rock rampart. Enjoy a scenic approach through open meadow terrain with wide ranging views of the middle Cascades and a short but interesting rock scramble on its summit block.
Backcountry Skiing, Day Hiking & Snowshoeing
An easy loop in Mount Rainier National Park of 4.5 miles and 1,300 feet of elevation gain that is a good day hike in summer and snowshoe trip in winter. Travel through old growth forest to a ridge with views of the Nisqually Valley and Mount Rainier itself on a clear day.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoe up the south end of Rampart Ridge above the east shores of Keechelus Lake. Rampart Vista is the name given to the highest spot just below the south facing cliffs of Rampart Mountain. The route follows logging roads and some cross country.
A 169-acre state park with a campground and 4,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Skagit River about 17 miles east of Sedro-Woolley. Enjoy watching birds and other wildlife. Eagle watching is excellent, particularly in early fall and winter.
Snowshoeing
Rat Trap Pass is a difficult, 7.5 mile round trip snowshoe hike with 1,900 ft in elevation gain. The top of the pass offers beautiful rolling snowfields beneath White Chuck Mountain.
Day Hiking
A trail leading out of the Yakima Canyon and up to a ridge and on to the 3,200-foot high point above I-82 offering grand views of Ellensburg, the Kittitas Valley and the Stuart Range.
Day Hiking & Scrambling
Rattlesnake Ledge is a moderate, 4 mile round-trip day hike with 1,160 ft in elevation gain. The trail switchbacks up steeply to a rocky ledge with views of Mount Si and the surrounding area.

A moderate to strenuous, in-and-out day hike along Rattlesnake Mountain starting from Rattlesnake Lake. Hike up to 11.2 miles and 3,010 feet of elevation gain. Enjoy many great views from the ridge!
