Craig Romano describes this hike as “...some of the prettiest and wildest coastline and beaches in North America.” Sights include sea stacks, arches, caves, tide pools, and sandy beaches. Besides the spectacular scenery, visit the Chilean Memorial and Norwegian Memorials, which commemorate long-ago shipwrecks along this hazardous coast.

From Third Beach to Oil City on the Hoh River, hike up to 17.5 miles with 1,900 feet of gain. Hike one-way from Third Beach to the Hoh River or out-and-back from Third Beach to anywhere down the beach. This hike can be challenging with rope ladders to ascend and descend headlands, rocky beaches to hike, and creeks to wade, but it is a spectacular trip along the Olympic Coast beaches.

A wonderfully simple moderate day hike to a subalpine lake on a trail that passes Boulder Creek Campground and Olympic Hot Springs, the only natural, backcountry bathing hot springs in the Olympics. The trail forks at 3.2 miles where you can head to Boulder Lake or Appleton Pass and Oyster Lake. Boulder and Everett Peaks are two good scrambles from Boulder Lake.
