We were fascinated by the twisted hulks of logging machinery left behind when the mountain blew. Were glad we brought extra water as we hiked through much open area. Some of us swam and waded in Coldwater Lake and found it not that cold in early September.
Guye Peak/West Face will offer bit of everything for a sunny summer day climb.
PCT north from Snoqualmie Pass to Ridge and Gravel Lakes via Kendall Katwalk.
A late season climb up a giant pile of sand
An excellent single day alpine adventure in the North Cascades.
Limited views due to the clouds, but no smoke at least.
Yet another pleasant sail to the exotic Port of Kingston. Aside from the forest fire smoke, it was just about perfect. Though I can't seem to get this crew picture right side up.
Great Weather! No smoke, clear skies. Berries and good rock scrambling up a famous Granite mountain , via a hidden scramble path up a dry river bed
7 scramblers enjoyed great conditions (warm and sunny, hardly any bugs or smoke) while climbing Eagle and Chutla Peaks.
This was a gorgeous trip right to the face of Mount Rainier. Leader was flexible in adapting to needs of all hikers and was very helpful in meeting me for carpooling.
Excellent day with perfect conditions. This scramble served as the final Mentored Lead for Nathan Smith.
Route conditions seem to be holding, but be prepared with navigation aids as the snow recedes and the boot paths fade.
Our everlasting summer we could see it fading fast
Paddled clockwise around Indian Island, starting and ending at Port Hadlock. With breaks at Fort Flagler State Park boat ramp, Mystery Bay State Park boat ramp, and during the portage across the Marrowstone/Indian Island isthmus. Returned to Port Hadlock via the Port Townsend Canal on the late afternoon ebb.
A short and blueberry sweet traverse of Mount Wow, with good air conditions, views of Mt Rainier, and some northwest original brush craft. Ascended past Lake Allen from the West Side Road, then descended via the Boundary Trail to the Nisqually entrance.
This is a "gentle" 3500' gain trip with a nice summit block in the last half-mile. Great views and rock. In case of wetness, there are several social bypass trails to the harder portions. The summit is huge, and can accommodate a lot of people.
