Good snow conditions made for a successful winter scramble on a low-to-moderate avalanche risk day. Very pleasant trip!
Successful trip. Great conditions. 6 hrs car to car.
Day Hike, Mt Walker: Trail well maintained, 2 trees leaning over trail. Toilets at top were un locked and had Toilet Paper. Few people on trail, all were friendly. Even with steady rain, only one or two small puddles on trail.
Long road walk, icy footing in the trees, fantastic views from the top.
Snow conditions make all the difference! A pretty easy trip can become much more challenging with difficult snow and this proved to be the case today. When the snow is like it was today, ice axes and the associated skills in how to use them are a must!
Yup, you need a high clearance vehicle to get to the trailhead...

Sunny day... Sweepin' the clouds away... and the snow! A fun but snow-free trip.
Fabulous day spent scrambling Teebone Ridge.
Avy conditions were low risk, blue bird day, so we started up. The crossing at the river about half way up was a steep down climb across a waterfall that seemed a bit dicey. We hiked back down to towards Guye to a lunch spot In the sun instead of pushing on.
It was a bluebird day. The mountains were above the fog layer around Seattle. The trail was groomed the whole way. It was sunny. The tracks were good for going up. The views at the top were of the lake and Mt. Rainer. The skiing down was easy with the soft conditions.
