Paddled from Conner Park to Goat Island and back, 7.3 nm. Trip included a short hike to Fort Whitman for lunch.
Trip favorites included the 4 volcano views, wildflowers, Olympic endemic wildflowers, and great exercise. We didn't take off from the trailhead until 10:30; an earlier take-off would have kept us all cooler. We partnered with the USFS and provided hikers with notice about the mid-August closer for goat capture. No goats observed on this trip.
The Fin is an excellent Basic Rock Climb, comprised of 3 full 60m pitches of stellar ridge climbing in the gorgeous Washington Pass area. I recommend this climb as a less busy alternative to SEWS and Kangaroo Temple.
Cold, crowded, and windy, but a direct route above the cleaver. Just one ladder crossing.
Spooky in heavy cloud/fog until early afternoon with slick tread. Weather started to break and it dried out enough to make the summit.
This out and back hike starts at Mowich Lake, passes by Eunice Lake, and ends at the Tolmie Peak Lookout. In between there is a fabulous view at Ipsut Pass and a couple of significant climbs.
Hiked in on evening of 7/11 and camped at Happy Four camp. There were no free slurpees. Hiked to Glacier Meadows on 7/12. Started for the summit at 2:30am and topped out at 10:30. Got back to camp around 4pm, broke camp and moved down to Lewis Meadow to shorten the long hike back to the TH. 7/14 hiked out and real food in Forks.
The approach route and climbers trail to the West Ridge were in great shape. There was no snow to be concerned with, and the trails were in good condition. No bugs.
Beautiful evening to enjoy dinner with a view from the balcony.
beautiful day, not too hot or wet, beautiful scenery.
great day, beautiful weather, lots of flowers, super group of hikers!
An amazing journey through the North Cascades with two alpine summits, glacier travel, class 4 climbing, and epic views.
An incredible traverse through the Alpine Lake Wilderness filled with mountain summits, alpine lakes, and waterfalls.
Dome Peak and almost...Sinister over a 3 1/4 days.
Single day climb of Concord, Liberty Bell and Lexington on a busy July weekend.
A tough climb up the Kautz Ice chute with a bonus summit at the third day.
