6.5 hours car-to-car. Snow on approach.
A private late season attempt to gain another Rainier 100 peak ended by early season snow and ice.
Clear skies made for spectacular views of the volcano, Spirit Lake, Mount Adams, and Mount Hood.
A Winter Wonderland trip in the Enchantments. Beautiful, but very cold.
What a beautiful place, but obviously heavily used.
A great scramble with shoulder season challenges on the ridge to the summit. With the recent snowfall this was akin to a winter scramble which involved breaking trail in snow that was not very consistent. The views however were outstanding with a mix of larches and snow and made for a great day on the mountains! Trip rating of 4 due to partially snow clad boulder fields on the approach and frequent postholing along the ridge.
Osceola Peak scramble / larch trip post winter storm.
A strong team, gorgeous day, and good route conditions made for a fun climb.
While we did not get up the summit block, we felt it was a successful winter scramble, camping in the basin and making it to the saddle with a brief attempt on the north side of Ingalls.
Great fall trip in the North Cascades, well worth the drive. We found ourselves kicking steps for the last few hundred feet and plunge stepping a little on the way down.
7 am weekday hike w/ 5 experienced hikers and dry weather.
Gorgeous day for climbing...sunny, not too hot and no bugs. We climbed at a easy pace and enjoyed the process. First ones on the route but a lot of people (from other routes) crowded the return to the bottom.
A tempestuous tundra traverse with gorgeous views of Mount Rainier. This strenuous trip began/ended at White River Campground and ascended the basin SSE of 3rd Burroughs.
Stunning views and Scatter Lake below Abernathy Peak is especially beautiful during larch season.
Heather Lake Overnight Trip. So much fun what a great hike.
Fabulous day to visit Ellinor! Perfect weather, great views, no crowds.
Eld Inlet, It’s quite and wall to walls houses on one shoreline the West Shoreline very few spots to stop for bio breaks it’s also difficult to find a park to launch from. I was able to find Frye County Park which had a sign that said it opened it gate at 9 AM in the morning but on the website it’s posted 8 o’clock the gentleman that open the gate came at 8:40 so I made the mistake of arriving a bit earlier than that there was another spot you could launch but they charge five dollars to put your kayak in and five dollars to pull it out. but it’s down on one of the inlets. I chose Frye Park. It has an incline I didn’t see anywhere else to launch. To paddle the inlet and my goal was to hit high tide that with sufficient water to explore the south end of it. South 101 highway crossing. We were able to make our way all the way to Where the creeks enters it Kevin had to find it. There were also pair of nesting Eagles in a tree.
We hiked the Davis Peak trail to the lookout site, then scrambled its Central Peak.
Great weather, calm water, no currents to speak of - wind was nominal (and great for the regatta that was going on).
