Extreme avalanche conditions. Roads OK, when not closed for avalanche control. High wind and heavy snow forecast, so we camped in a low and protected area about half way to Grace Lakes. Nice snow camping trip. Everyone had fun and learned a lot.
Covid Zoom meeting. Patrick ran the slide show and instrucetd parts. Tim did most of the lecture. Chris helped out too. Students seemed to feel confident at the end.
This is a good, non-technical snowshoe for fit beginners. The road takes you to fine views at 4500', with a short excursion to the pretty lower lake basin. Limited avalanche exposure.
Great paddle with some challenging conditions. Fully explored Rocky Bay and Vaughn Bay and circled Stretch and Reach Islands.

Make-up Field Trip for Tacoma Branch Basic Snowshoe Course. Originally planned for Paradise, but location was scrapped due to weather/avy conditions. Alternate destination was the White River Trail along SR 410. 6 students and 3 leaders. Successful trip, perfect weather, no issues.
Wonderful trip with lots of wildlife - more eagles than we could count, sea lions and a small flock of swans. Great time of year for this trip.
It was a very rainy day. Lessons took place in the morning but most students went home after lunch due to the weather.
Students were grouped 2-3 students per instructor and had morning and afternoon classes.

The first time we skied ungroomed trails at Echo Ridge. Luckily everybody brought suitable skis A 2 days ski instead at Echo Ridge area.
On last Saturday, a group of 7 from across all 5 kayaking branches, paddled and sailed around Marrowstone and Indian Islands. We had winds, sometimes strong, which were at times fun and challenging.
A great winter workout with vistas of the Kautz Creek Canyon and Van Trump Park.
