Thanks to zesty weather we had prime viewing conditions for polar bears having a water fight inside a cloud (albeit a bit warm for the bears ;). A great wet workout with clouds limiting views to the immediately adjacent ridges and valleys.
The hike out is an easy out and back when navigating correctly , otherwise additional miles and elevation can easily be added.
Another surprisingly nice day on the trail in spite of a stormy weather forecast!
Ferry problems changed this to a Vendovi Exploration & Jack Island circumnavigation that had a relaxed exploratory pace & had a wildflower & vista highlight.
Excellent, experienced group. Snow conditions as expected due to previous WTA reports. And today, unlike yesterday, no break ins at trailhead parking.
Seven of us enjoyed a spring day on the Rattlesnake Ledge trail with moments of sun and rain. All but one member decided to carry on to the Middle and Upper viewpoints and then we had lunch at the First Ledge viewpoint.
We saw 3 patches of broken window glass at Little Si Trail Head, be sure not to leave anything visible in your car. We did not experience any problems.
High wind predictions for the Manastash Ridge area led us to a Plan B, a hybrid trip with ~500 ft of travel on the Rattlesnake Dance trail, followed by a mellow walk along Umtanum Creek.
A successful field trip in a great location.
Our trip to Bridle trails to see early Spring vascular plants was a great success. The weather was fantastic and all of the students were steadily practicing their use of the recommended apps and generally have a good time!
Mission accomplished despite a sever lack of wind for sailing. Zach and Jill were very attentive student and despite our lack of significant learned much about basic sailboat functions and maneuvering. Saw all points of sail, worked winch positions and got helm time under power and sail. Great day of learning.
Fun day with an awesome group of hikers! Lots of sunshine and beautiful views. Wildflowers are just starting to bloom.
This was Experience Sail #2 which was completed in Commencement Bay, WA.
Fun trip with a good group, along a interesting stretch of coastline.
Great snowy trip up Baring on a second attempt. Early start kept the avy danger to a minimum.
Heidi and McKenze were eager and ready to learn. They both did an excellent job in maneuvering the boat thru all points of sail including jibes and coming about. They were fast learners and asked good questions that showed a lot of study and preparation. Great job ladies!
Bitter cold wind and snow underfoot couldn't keep up from our goal! Make it!
A party of seasoned veterans snowshoed to Olallie Lake, gaining 2.100’ in a little under 6 hours round trip.
