Successful Emmons climb, route is in good condition
Minus 3 conditions at the start provided great opportunity to view the intertidal zone. Sandstone formations make this a beautiful place to paddle.
A pleasant, sunny trip where we practiced our travel on loose rock.
Off-trail skills practice for Tacoma Scrambling students
The Tooth, not just a simple alpine rock climb
The Return of Carpool Shuffle- A Dance of Reducing Our Carbon Footprint. A trip leader reflects on her planning and activities mid 2023 encouraging others to take the "extra step" post-pandemic and walk the talk of Leave No Trace.
Good trip except for issues getting to the Lynch Glacier.
2-day climb of Mt Baker via the Squak Glacier
We walked a loop route starting in Hamlin Park , and included Northcrest , Rotary , North City , Shoreline , Cromwell , Ronald Bog , Twin Ponds , Paramont , and South Woods Parks . We also visited the Pacific Northwest Conifer Arboretum.
Despite having to get turned around and challenging wet conditions, we had a great experience climbing The Tooth. We were grateful for the opportunity and satisfied with our decisions. In hindsight, we realized the summer route would have been a better choice. The side hill traverse was much easier than the steep ridge encountered on the Winter route. We learned the importance of assessing conditions, planning ahead and prioritizing safety.
Very fun, short climb with a spirited group. Perfect as first alpine one-pitch rock climb for newer students. Challenging afternoon storms on descent did not dampen our enthusiasm. Summit views for days (you, know, before the black clouds rolled in).
Beautiful day in the Tatoosh Range to explore Foss and Boundary Peaks
did davis peak north(the true summit of davis peak) instead of goat
One long day climb of an iconic aid climbing route in Index.
Trail in decent condition. A couple of blowdowns, one very large, presented some challenges. A couple of snowfields hanging on past Poodle Dog pass, Silver Lake still 80% ice covered.
Lightning Peak is what I'd describe as deceptively difficult. Rated 8 miles RT and S3/T3 with over half on trail. It was my first official scramble lead since completing my mentored trip and receiving the leader badge.
6 scramblers did the pleasant clockwise loop over Not Hinkhouse, enjoying good views even as it began to cloud up. Thunder started to rumble when we were at Long's Pass, but it never rained pn us.
