Day Hiking
Copper Creek is a moderate, 5 mile in-and-out day hike with 2,400 ft in elevation gain. The trail goes up steeply through old-growth forest above Copper Creek.
Cross-country Skiing, Day Hiking & Snowshoeing
Ski or snowshoe to the one hut in the Mount Tahoma Trails Association's North District. The hut and trails are north of Ashford just outside of Mount Rainier National Park. Much of the trail is on a forest road, reaching ridges with views of Mount St. Helens, Sawtooth Ridge and Mount Rainier. Make it a day trip or enjoy an overnight at hut. Reservations are required for overnight hut stays.

6.4 miles, 2591 ft gain, moderate-challenging difficulty. Trail to beautiful alpine lake with potential for larch viewing.
Scrambling
Scramble any one of these peaks, the Cooper & Iron Mountain pair, or all three, all strenuous scrambles of 12+ miles and 4,500+ feet of elevation gain that are moderately technical. The approach to these peaks in the southwestern part of Mount Rainier National Park leads through old growth forest to the lush Indian Henry's Hunting Ground and an old ranger cabin.

A moderate, 8 mile scramble with 2,800 feet elevation gain. This scramble will take you along a historical trail and up the seldom-climbed east side of Copper Mountain.
Climbing
Copper Peak is located next to, and overshadowed by, its near neighbor, Fernow. When accessed from Holden it can be combined easily with the latter Peak. It offers some interesting routefinding and exciting, exposed scrambling.

A tiny rock climbing crag west of Issaquah. It sports two bolted routes and anchors for top-roping. Be careful of the loose and crumbly rock.

Hike the Bear Ride Trail from Issaquah's Talus Open Space and then on the trails in Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. The trail goes through old forests and over streams and passes the "Fantastic Erratic" boulder.

The Coal Creek Falls loop is a popular, short, easy day hike. There are also many options for longer out-and-back and loop trips to explore further into the park from this trailhead. Dogs on a leash are welcome.

Hike from the edge of The Highlands in Newcastle one mile to Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. From there continue on to De Leo Wall or onto Marshall Hill Trail and return on the other to make a loop.
