Scrambling
A scenic and moderate scramble of two peaks approached from the Deer Creek Trailhead off of Highway 123 on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park.
Backcountry Skiing & Snowshoeing
A moderate snowshoe or backcountry ski trip to a quiet, scenic basin east of Mount Rainier.
Day Hiking
A splendid 7 mile alpine loop trail in the Norse Peak Wilderness, full of flowers in the basin and views of Mount Rainier along 2.7 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail on the ridge between eastern and western Washington heading south. The trail along the ridge passes below Bullion Peak, Crown Point, and Pickhandle Point.
Urban Adventure
A 50-acre park in Thurstan County with 1,100 feet of saltwater beach along Budd Inlet. Enjoy nature trails and beach walking with views of the State Capitol and the Olympic Mountains. The park also has three covered shelters.
A community center located next to the large, forested park Dottie Harper Park in downtown Burien. It also offers great parking for large events.
Urban Walking
Using sideways and road shoulders a route of one to 3 miles length and under 100 ft elevation gain can be chosen to explore Burien by foot. A number of possible interesting urban walk loops are possible that link several town parks to the old and new downtown areas. There are several options on where to start from that have parking lots, restrooms and transit options.
Day Hiking, Snowshoeing & Trail Running
A 7-mile one-way trip with 4,000 feet of elevation gain to a lookout tower built in 1934 with views of Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, Mount St Helens, and Mount Hood.

A roughly 7-8 mile hike with approximately 1700-2000 feet of gain depending on routing. Leads to a logged area with sweeping views of the San Juans. An additional viewpoint provides easterly views of the Twins and Mt Baker.
Day Hiking
An easy, 4 to 7.4 mile alpine hike with ~900 ft of elevation gain around First & Second Burroughs or a strenuous, 9 mile hike with 2,900 feet of elevation gain to Third Burroughs. Hike on fragile terrain between the Winthrop and Emmons Glaciers to viewpoints with spectacular views of Columbia Crest on Mount Rainier.
Backcountry Skiing
A hut located on Garibaldi Lake in Canada's British Columbia that provides access to great backcountry skiing a large basin above the hut.
Day Hiking
A trail is on the south side of Mount St. Helens that wanders through lava flows, pumice plains full of wildflowers, huckleberries and old growth forest. It leads to a viewpoint with views of Mount Hood, the south side of Mount St. Helens and the Indian Heaven and Trapper Creek Wilderness areas.
Cross-country Skiing
Cabin Creek is an cross-country ski area with 8 miles of easy trails with no more than 200 feet of total elevation gain off of I-90 just east of Exit 62 and the Crystal Springs Sno-Park. The terrain is varied and the trails are groomed and are used for races four times a year.
Scrambling
This peak is a great moderate early spring snow scrambling trip with views of Ragged Ridge and other peaks of the North Cascades.
Scrambling
Cadet Peak is a prominent summit in the Monte Cristo area, with considerable technical challenge and a strenuous 8 mile approach. The old mining town of Monte Cristo and Glacier Basin, with the surrounding high summits, are well worth the visit.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
Hike or backpack in the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness. There are three trails that make great day hikes and backpacking trips all 10+ miles with 1,200+ feet of elevation gain. Loop trips with some side trips venturing along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) and into the Glacier Peak Wilderness are some of the best options. Enjoy wildflower meadows on the west flank of Glacier Peak and a viewpoint down the White Chuck River valley to Glacier Peak.
Climbing
Rock climb on a 160 foot tall wall that's nearly vertical to overhung located adjacent to the Walker Valley ORV Recreational Area north of Arlington. The approach trail is two miles, and the wall has both sport and trad climbing routes.
Sea Kayaking
Sea kayak along an historic section of coast at the northern end of Camano Island. This area was once a major logging community and home to the first ship building operation in Puget Sound. It's a 7 nm round trip paddle.
Day Hiking & Urban Walking
Enjoy hiking, biking, exploring tidepools, camping, and sweeping views of Puget Sound, Mount Rainier and the Olympic Mountains at a 244-acre state park near Everett and about an hour from Seattle. It has over a mile of rocky shoreline and beaches, three miles of forested hiking trails, and a reservable shelter holding up to 44 people in the shelter.
Day Hiking, Naturalist & Urban Walking
An easy, two-mile hike on meandering trails, with less than 350 ft of elevation gain. The meadows are a seasonal wetland in the Wenatchee Mountains, a Washington Natural Area Preserve with a fragile ecosystem and endemic plants. Please tread lightly!
Stewardship
Camp Brown is an ADA accessible picnic area and interpretive loop trail located along the wild and Scenic Middle fork Snoqualmie River that offers sweeping views of Mount Garfield and the Middle Fork River.
