Day Hiking & Snowshoeing
A moderate day hike along the west bank of the While River. It's 11 miles round trip but relatively flat with a few ups and downs that ad up to about 500 feet of elevation gain. In winter when snow levels drop this is good option for an easy snowshoe trip.
Packrafting
Putting in at the Index-Galena Road washout and taking out at the Power Lines just below the town of Index makes for a fun mostly Class II packraft run with some Class III drops sprinkled in. Llama Ledges, a Class III+ rapid, awaits those who continue past the Power Line take out and down to the confluence with South Fork.

Paddle from Big Eddy to Sultain, a relaxed Class II river run. From Sultan to Monroe is a great sea kayaking or flatwater packrafting practice on a Class I river section.

Day Hiking
A moderate, 9 mile round trip day hike with 2,500 feet of elevation gain. The trail goes up through forests and alpine meadows to a scenic ridge line.

A great winter playground at Stevens Pass for snowshoers, scramblers and backcountry skiers. It's a short, steep trip up the ridge to an alpine lake. From there there are may possible destinations including Heather Ridge, Sky Mountain, Tye Peak and Tye Lake.
Backpacking & Day Hiking
Hike or backpack to Ned Hill, Camp Tony and/or Three Forks Camp, exploring the hills and valleys along Slab Creek and the Gary Wolf River in the Olympics' Buckhorn Wilderness. In summer enjoy rhododendron-lined trails.
Day Hiking
A former fire lookout site, Sleeping Beauty Peak is a prominent basalt feature located 12 miles northwest of Trout Lake. It's 1.3 miles as it climbs 1,400 feet to the summit. For this effort, you'll be rewarded with views of Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, Mount Saint Helens, and the Indian Heaven Wilderness.

The Notheast Buttress of Slesse Mountain is a Grade V, 5.10- alpine rock climb in the rugged Chilliwack region just north of the United States-Canadian border.
