A nice dry and somewhat foggy day for a 4th of July hike and scramble. A flag greeted us atop Bearhead Peak.
3-day trip to Waptus and Deep Lakes on 4th of July weekend
All went well. Saw three sea otters---take good binoculars---and one land otter. Lots of eagles. No logistical problems
This is a Grade III+, 5.8 climb according to SuperTopo. You could probably do it in a day, but much more fun with a bivy!
A successful 2 day scramble of Snowking via Kindy Ridge
Strenuous/beautiful scramble of ~15 miles/~5300' to summits of 3rd/2nd Burroughs, and Skyscraper Mountain from White River Campground.
Pinnacle; mixed rock, cautious climbing, helmet required. Castle; solid rock, short
4 day outing to Spickard and Redoubt. Successful summit of Spickard but we skipped Redoubt due to weather and shortened the trip to 3 days.
Successful summit of Argonaut with some short challenges due to conditions.
Great climb and just as fun as advertised.
Unsuccessful because of insufficient beta on website.
An extra 2.4 miles due to wash out but otherwise standard trip with 50% melt out.
This was an enjoyable attempt, but we failed to reach the summit for various reasons.
Overall successful hike. Our group of 6 enjoyed the hike and lovely lake despite the massive Saturday crowds. In the future, I will include this hike during the mid-week for some solitude.
We did the Fishers Hornpipe route and returned through Indian Henrys and came out at the Kautz Creek Trailhead. Great group, excellent weather for a long trip.
Exhausting, exhilarating, and unforgettable are words that come to mind! Forbidden is one of the 50 classic climbs in North America. It is #27 in the Bulger list and the terminating point of the famous Torment-Forbidden Traverse. We only did Forbidden itself.
never been to this section of PCT even though so close by, very scenic.
The trip was successfully, everybody had a good time.
