A pleasant "grand tour" of part of the South Sound around the Key Peninsula. One-way 16.3nm paddle with a very short (4 mile) shuttle.
Stepping stones, varied thrushes, and willows, oh my! 9 of us enjoyed 4 miles of rambling with my dog Ajax on a lovely break-between-weather-systems walk.
We completed this Walk one-way with a train ride back to the start . The walk included trails around the Jackson Park Golf Course , the three Parks , and the Burke-Gilman .
Gate to Paradise did not open so hiked Rampart Ridge loop leaving from Longmire parking lot.
Winter magic hike to Cedar Butte, Christmas Lake and the Watershed Education Center
A mostly nice winter day for this grand tour of the Narrows! Cloudy with a few sun breaks and showers and little wind until the last 2 miles home. Eagles, sea birds, seals and a few porpoises made an appearance. A pleasant lunch inside at 7 Seas Brewery (The Tides is closed still).
10 of us enjoyed 20 bird species, a deer, and wonderful brisk weather (just a minute of snow) with this dawn start for a wonderful "Tuesdays with Court" scouting adventure.
Lovely unmaintained trail for much of the route followed by a road walk with views and a short ridge bushwhack to a summit with limited views. A nice change of pace for a scramble near Seattle.
A beautiful day in the Olympics, with a relatively thin layer of overnight snowfall making for a magical (and cold) ascent through snow dusted trail and trees. A great workout on this 5000’ gain, 9 mile outing. [Lead photo by Ahmed Okasha]

Seattle’s maritime industry was on sunny display for our walk from the West Seattle Water Taxi Pier to the Habitat Beach near the Seattle Ferry Terminal
This "hike" is more scrambly than some scrambles. Type 2 fun guaranteed.
Trails at Paradise snow covered as of 2-15-2025. Parking lots were bare and wet.
6 Mountaineers hiked the May Valley Short Loop (4.6mi, 930ft of elevation gain). This was a mentored hike that began at 8:00am on 2/14/26.
Doris Cooper Houghton Beach (DCHB) Park to OO Denny Park Paddle and back. Lovely paddle with close urban scenery with views of the Olympics, Mt Rainier, 520 Floating bridge, Seattle skyline, and Magnuson Park.
A beautiful day for a conditioning hike on Squak Mountain.
